Removal
1. Lift front of vehicle and support it with safety stands.
2. Remove wheel and tire.
3. Remove pivot bolt.
4. Remove lower arm ball joint bolt and nut from steering knuckle.
5. Remove three mounting bolts
6. Remove retaining nut, washer and rear control arm bushing.
7. Remove two ball joint mounting nuts and bolts from lower control arm.
8. Secure ball joint in a vise.
9. Carefully use a chisel to remove dust boot from ball joint.
Do not damage ball joint
10. Remove the front control arm bushing.
11. Remove control arm.
Installation
1. Apply general-purpose grease to new tire dust boot.
2. Press he dust boot onto the ball joint with an suitable tool.
3. Install the ball joint to the lower arm and tighten two ball joint mounting nuts and bolts.
Tightening torque : 69~86 lb-ft (93~117N·m, 9.5~11.9kg-m)
4. Install rear control arm busing with a washer and tighten retaining nut.
Tightening torque : 69~86 lb-ft(93~117 N·m, 9.5~11.9kg-m)
5. Tighten the three mounting bolts.
Tightening torque : 69~86 lb-ft(93~117N·m, 9.5~11.9 kg-m)
40~50 lb-ft(54~68 N·m, 5.5~6.9 kg-m)
6. Put the ball joint into the knuckle and tighten the lower arm bal joint pinch bolt and nut.
Tightening torque : 32~40 lb-ft(43~54N·m, 4.4~.55kg-m)
7. Tighten the pivot bolt after installing the front control arm bushing.
Tightening torque : 69~86 lb-ft(93~117 N·m, 9.5~11.9 kg-m)
Inspection
Ball joint rotation torque
1. Check the following and replace the ball joint if necessary. Attach SST(0K130 322 020 )to the ball joint stud
and measurethe force required to cause continuous rotation using a pull scale.
Specified rotating torque : 17~30 lb-in (2.0~3.4N·m, 20~5 kg-cm)
Equivalent pull scale reading : 4.4~7.7lb (20~34N·m 2.0~3.5 kg)
