Circuit operation

Daytime running lights(DRL) (With airbag)

The daytime running lamp system consists of the DRL module and DRL relay. Battery voltage is always applied
to the terminal D(R) of the DRL through the "TEFOG (20A)" fuse and R wire, and with the ignition switch in ON,
voltage also is applied to the terminal A(R/Y) of the DRL module through "IG1" fuse and R/Y wire. The terminal
M(B) of the DRL module is always grounded through B wire. The DRL module detects alternator operation at
the terminal F(W) of the DRL module.

Troubleshooting

Daytime running lights(DRL)

Preliminary check:
Check if headlights and tail, position and license lights operate with the headlight switch. If not OK, at first, repairthese light
systems and recheck DRL system. If OK, perform the following procedures. Check "HEAD LAMP(15A)", "CIGAR(15A) and
"EGI(10A)" fuse and DRL relay. If open, check for short to ground through the G,Y, and G/W wire and overload, replace fuse
or relay and check that all system electrical connectors mated correctly.

Headlight does not operate by DRL system

(Tail, position and license lights operate by DRL system normally)

Connect test light between the terminal E(W) of
DRL relay E-17 and ground.
Is test light ON?

Tes

Go to next step

No

Repair open or short in the wire "R" to the DRL
relay or replace.

Turn the ignition switch "ON" position, connect
test light between the terminal B(P) of DRL relay
E-17 and ground.
Is test light ON

Yes

Go to next step

No

Repair open or short in the wire "R" to the DRL
relay or replace.

Disconnect the DRL connector. Connect test
light between the terminal J(Y) of DRL module
harness E-18 and ground.
Is test light ON?

Yes

Connect DRL connector. Check DRL module.

No

Repair open or short in the wire "Y" to the DRL
relay.

Tail, position and license lights do not operate by DRL system

(Headlights operate by DRL system normally)

Connect test light between the terminal D(R) of
DRL relay E-18 and ground.
Is test light ON?

Tes

Check for DRL module.

No

Repair open or short in the wire "R" or replace.

Headlight tail, position and license lights do not operate by DRL system

Disconnect DRL module connector and turn the
ignition switch to "ON" position. Connect test
light between the terminal A(R/Y) of the DRL
harness E-18 and ground.
Is test light ON?

Yes

Go to next step

No

Repair open or short in the wire "R/Y" or replace.

Connect test light between the terminal A(R/Y)
and terminal M(B) of the DRL harness E-18.
Is test light ON?

Yes

Go to next step

No

Check for a poor connection in the wire "B" to
ground. If OK, repair or replace the wire "B".

Turn the light switch to "PARK" position.Connect
test light between the terminal B(R/L) of the DRL
harness and ground.
Is test light ON?

Yes

Go to next step

No

Repair open or short in the wire "R/L" or replace.

Turn the headlights switch to "OFF" position.
Connect test light between the terminal E(Y/G)
of the DRL harness E-18 and ground.
Is test light ON?

Yes

Go to next step

No

Repair open or short in the wire "Y/G" or replace.

5

Release the parking brake.
Connect test light between the terminal L(Y/G) of
the DRL harness E-18 and ground.
Is test light ON?

Yes

Go to next step

No

Repair open or short in the wire "Y/G" or replace.
