1. Remove spark plugs and

check for fluid.

2. Inspect for broken head

gasket.

3. Inspect for cracked engine

block or cylinder head.

4. Inspect for a sticking fuel

injector and/or leaking fuel
regulator.

Broken timing chain and/or timing
chain and/or timing chain gears.

1. Inspect timing chain and

gears.

2. Repair as required.

damaged components and/or
foreign materials.

ENGINE AND TRANSAXLE ASSEMBLY

REMOVAL

1. Remove the engine cover (A).

2. Recover refrigerant, opening the high & low pressure pipe caps and connecting the refrigerant station.

Refer to AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM .

3. Disconnect the negative terminal from the battery and remove the battery (A).

CAUTION:

Use fender covers to avoid damaging painted surfaces.

To avoid damage, unplug the wiring connectors carefully while
holding the connector portion.

NOTE:

Mark all wiring and hoses to avoid misconnection.
