4. Is the measured voltage within specifications in Fig. 139?

YES

Check connectors for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration,
or damage.

Repair or replace as necessary and then go to "VERIFICATION OF VEHICLE REPAIR"
procedure.

NO

Substitute with a known-good power seat slide sensor and check for proper operation. If the
problem is corrected, replace power seat slide sensor and then go to "VERIFICATION OF
VEHICLE REPAIR
" procedure.

DTC B1957 REAR HEIGHT MOTOR OR SENSOR ERROR

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Refer to DTC B1954.

DTC DESCRIPTION

The ECM sets DTC B1956 if there's any fault in front height sensor signal.

DTC DETECTING CONDITION

MONITOR DTC STATUS

1. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC).

2. Ignition "ON" & engine "OFF".

3. Select "Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) "mode and monitor "DTC Status" parameter.

4. Is the DTC B1957 present?

YES

Go to TERMINAL AND CONNECTOR INSPECTION procedure.

NO

Fault is intermittent caused by poor contact in the sensor's and/or ECM's connector or was repaired and
ECM memory was not cleared. Thoroughly check connectors for looseness, poor connection, bending,
corrosion, contamination, deterioration, or damage. Repair or replace as necessary and then go to
"VERIFICATION OF VEHICLE REPAIR" procedure.

TERMINAL AND CONNECTOR INSPECTION

Refer to DTC B1954.

SIGNAL CIRCUIT INSPECTION

1. Check for open in harness

1. Ignition "OFF".

2. Measure resistance between terminal "10" of IMS and terminal "3" of power seat recline sensor.

Specification :Approx. 0 ohms

3. Is the measured resistance within specifications?

YES

Go to step 2.

NO

Check for open in signal harness. Repair as necessary and go to "VERIFICATION OF
VEHICLE REPAIR
" procedure.

2. Check for short in harness

1. Ignition "OFF".

2. Disconnect rear height motor.

3. Measure resistance between terminal "10" of IMS and chassis ground.

Specification :Approx. infinity ohms

4. Is the measured resistance within specifications?

YES

Go to "POWER CIRCUIT INSPECTION" procedure.

NO

Check for short in signal harness. Repair as necessary and go to "VERIFICATION OF
VEHICLE REPAIR
" procedure.

POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT INSPECTION

MOTOR POWER CIRCUIT INSPECTION

1. Check for open in harness

1. Ignition "OFF"

2. Disconnect rear height motor.

3. Measure resistance between terminal "3" of IMS and terminal "2" of power seat recline motor.

4. Measure resistance between terminal "8" of IMS and terminal "5" of power seat recline motor.

Specification :Approx. 0 ohms
