1

OPEN CIRCUIT IN HARNESS BETWEEN
ECM AND PURGE CONTROL SOLENOID
VALVE.
1) Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
2) Disconnect the connectors from ECM and
purge control solenoid valve.
3) Turn the ignition switch to ON.
4) Measure the voltage between ECM and
chassis ground.

Connector & terminal

(B137) No. 29 (+) — Chassis ground (–):

Is the voltage 10 V or more?

Repair the short
circuit to power in
the harness
between ECM and
purge control sole-
noid valve connec-
tor.

Go to step 2.

2

CHECK PURGE CONTROL SOLENOID
VALVE.
1) Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
2) Measure the resistance between purge con-
trol solenoid valve terminals.

Terminals

No. 1 — No. 2:

Is the resistance less than 1

:? Replace the purge

control solenoid
valve. <Ref. to
EC(H4DOTC)-9,

1

CHECK FOR ANY OTHER DTC ON DISPLAY. Is any other DTC displayed?

Check the appro-
priate DTC using
the “List of Diag-
nostic Trouble
Code (DTC)”.
<Ref. to
EN(H4DOTC)(diag)
-81, List of Diag-
nostic Trouble
Code (DTC).>

Replace the fuel
level sensor and
fuel sub level sen-
sor. <Ref. to

1

CHECK FOR ANY OTHER DTC ON DISPLAY. Is DTC P0462 or P0463 dis-

played on the Subaru Select
Monitor?

Check the combi-
nation meter. <Ref.
to IDI-13, CHECK
FUEL LEVEL
SENSOR,
INSPECTION,

Even if DTC is
detected, the cir-
cuit has returned to
a normal condition
at this time. Repro-
duce the failure,
and then perform
the diagnosis
again.

NOTE:
In this case, tem-
porary poor con-
tact of connector
may be the cause.
