REPAIR INSTRUCTIONS - OFF VEHICLE
TRANSMISSION DISASSEMBLE
1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
2. Remove the propeller shaft. Refer to One-Piece Propeller Shaft Replacement or
Two-Piece Propeller Shaft Replacement .
3. Position an appropriate container under the transmission to catch any lost fluid.

Main Shaft Nut
Procedure:
Use the J 8614-01 to hold the transmission end yoke while removing or
installing the main shaft nut.
Tighten: 441 N.m (325 lb ft)
Special Tool:
J 8614-01 Flange and Pulley Holding Tool
NOTE:
Refer to Fastener Notice .

1. Remove the vehicle speed sensor (VSS) screw.

2. Remove the VSS.

3. Remove the main shaft nut.

4. Remove the main shaft nut from the main shaft.
