Tighten in specified sequence.
Tighten: 8 N.m (71 lb in)

Procedure:
Discard seal and replace with new.

Procedure:
Discard seal and replace with new.

Center Support Fluid Passage Seal
Procedure
1. Discard seal and replace with new.
2. It is recommended that transmission adaptive pressure (TAP) information
be reset. Transmission performance may be affected as new TAP values
are learned. Refer to Service Fast Learn Adapts.
3. If replacing the control valve body assembly, remove the Control
Solenoid Valve and Transmission Control Module Assembly
Replacement and the Manual Shift Shaft Position Switch
Replacement.

2. Remove the transmission fluid pan and filter. Refer to Automatic Transmission
Fluid, Fluid Pan and/or Filter Replacement.
3. Remove the upper and lower valve body assembly. Refer to Control Valve Lower
Body and Upper Body Replacement.

Speed Sensor Electrical Connector

Input and Output Speed Sensor Assembly Bolts (Qty: 2)
Tighten: 12 N.m (106 lb in)
NOTE:
Refer to Fastener Notice .

Tip: Inspect the wiring harness clips for damage replace if necessary.

TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENT
TOOLS REQUIRED
J 21366 Converter Holding Strap
REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection
and Connection (w/Single Battery) or Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and
Connection (w/Auxiliary Battery) or Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and
Connection (w/Dual Batteries) .
2. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
3. Remove the rear propeller shaft. Refer to One-Piece Propeller Shaft Replacement or
Two-Piece Propeller Shaft Replacement .
4. Support the transmission with a transmission jack.
5. Remove the transmission crossmember. Refer to Transmission Support Crossmember
Replacement (2WD 2500 HD/3500) or Transmission Support Crossmember
Replacement (2WD 1500/2500) or Transmission Support Crossmember Replacement
(4WD 1500/2500) or Transmission Support Crossmember Replacement (4WD 2500
HD/3500) .
6. Remove the transmission mount. Refer to Transmission Mount Replacement (2WD) or
Transmission Mount Replacement (4WD) .
7. Remove the catalytic converter pipe. Refer to Catalytic Converter Replacement (4.3L)
or Catalytic Converter Replacement (4.8L, 5.3L, 6.0L, 6.2L) or Catalytic Converter

Tighten: 10 N.m (89 lb in)
NOTE:
Refer to Fastener Notice .

Torque Converter Cover
Tip: Remove the starter. Refer to Starter Motor Replacement (4.3L) or
Starter Motor Replacement (4.8L, 5.3L, 6.0L, and 6.2L) or Starter Motor
Replacement (6.6L) .
