COOLANT TEMPERATURE
INDICATOR

System which informs the driver of
the changes in the temperature of the
engine coolant while driving.

With the engine running, when the nee-
dle is:
-

in zone A , the temperature is correct,

-

in zone B , the temperature is too
high; the max temperature warning
lamp 1 and the central STOP warn-
ing lamp come on, accompanied by
an audible signal and a message in
the multifunction screen.

You MUST stop as soon as it is safe
to do so.

Consult a PEUGEOT dealer.

After driving for a few minutes, the tem-
perature and pressure in the cooling
system increase.
To top up the level:
 wait for the engine to cool,
 unscrew the cap by two turns to

allow the pressure to drop,

 when the pressure has dropped,

remove the cap,

 top up the level to the "MAX" mark

(circular line).

On petrol engines, the cooling of the
engine is managed electronically
to reduce fuel consumption. Con-
sequently, the coolant temperature
levels are no longer simply linked
with the external ambient condi-
tions and the use of the vehicle.
For example, in town, it is normal for
the coolant temperature to be slight-
ly higher in cold weather than in hot
weather (normal operation may lead
to a temperature of over 100 °).

SERVICE INDICATOR

System which informs the driver when the
next service is due, in accordance with
the manufacturer's servicing schedule.
The point at which the service is due is
calculated from the last indicator zero
reset. It is determined by two param-
eters:
-

the distance travelled,

-

the time elapsed since the last ser-
vice.

More than 1 000 km remain before
the next service is due
For 5 seconds after the ignition is
switched on, the spanner symbolising
the service operations comes on. The
distance recorder display line indicates
the distance remaining before the next
service is due.
Example: 4 800 km remain before the
next service is due.
For 5 seconds after the ignition is
switched on, the display indicates:

5 seconds after the ignition is switched
on, the spanner goes off ; the distance
recorder resumes its normal operation.
The display then indicates the total and
trip distances.

Less than 1 000 km remain before
the next service is due
Example: 900 km remain before the
next service is due.
For 5 seconds after the ignition is
switched on, the display indicates:

5 seconds after the ignition is switched
on, the distance recorder resumes its
normal operation. The spanner re-
mains on
to indicate that a service
must be carried out soon.

Following this operation, if you
wish to disconnect the battery,
lock the vehicle and wait at least

fi ve minutes for the zero reset to be

taken into account.

Service indicator zero reset

After each service, the service indicator
must be reset to zero.
The procedure for resetting to zero is as
follows:
 switch off the ignition,
 press and hold the trip distance re-

corder zero reset button,

 switch on the ignition; the distance

recorder display begins a count-
down,

 when the display indicates "=0" ,

release the button; the spanner
disappears.

The distance remaining may be
weighted by the time factor, depend-
ing on the driver's driving habits.
Therefore, the spanner may also
come on if you have exceeded the
two year service interval.

Service overdue
For 5 seconds after the ignition is
switched on,

the spanner fl ashes to

indicate that the service must be carried
out as soon as possible.
Example: the service is overdue by
300 km.
For 5 seconds after the ignition is
switched on, the display indicates:

5 seconds after the ignition is switched
on, the distance recorder resumes its
normal operation. The spanner re-
mains
on .

TOTAL DISTANCE RECORDER

System which measures the total dis-
tance travelled by the vehicle during its
life.

LIGHTING DIMMER

System for manual adjustment of the
brightness of the instrument panel in
relation to the exterior brightness.

The total and trip distances are dis-
played for thirty seconds when the ig-
nition is switched off, when the driver's
door is opened and when the vehicle is
locked or unlocked.

TRIP DISTANCE RECORDER

System which measures a distance
travelled during a day or other period
since it was reset to zero by the driver.

 With the ignition on, press the but-

ton until zeros appear.

Activation
When the exterior lighting is on:
 press the button to change the

brightness of the instrument panel,

 when the lighting reaches the mini-

mum setting, release the button,
then press again to increase it,

or
 when the lighting reaches the maxi-

mum setting, release the button,
then press again to reduce it,

 when the lighting reaches the level

of brightness required, release the
button.

Deactivation
When the exterior lighting off, pressing
the button does not have any effect.

MONOCHROME SCREEN A

Adjusting the parameters
Press and hold button 1 for two seconds

to access the settings; the data fl ashes,

indicating it is ready to be modifi ed.
Then, each press of button 1 scrolls
through the various data in the following
order:
-

language of information displayed,

-

hours (12 then 24 hour mode),

-

minutes,

-

year,

-

month,

-

day,

-

unit of temperature (degrees Cel-
sius or Fahrenheit).

Pressing button 2

allows modifi cation

of the data selected. Press and hold for
rapid advance (return to start after the
last possible value).
After 7 seconds with no action, the main

display returns; the modifi ed data are

now recorded.
Note: Pressing button 2

briefl y displays

the ambient temperature for a few
seconds.
When the ambient temperature is be-
tween -3° and 3 °C, the ambient tem-
perature display on the screen takes
priority over the clock display.

This displays the following information:
-

time,

-

date,

- ambient temperature * (this fl ashes

when it is between -3 and 3 °C),

-

audio system information,

-

a door check (e.g.: ''left front door
open''),

-

warning messages (e.g. ''remote

control battery fl at'') or information

messages (e.g. ''economy mode

MONOCHROME SCREEN B

This enables the following information
to be displayed:

time,

- ambient temperature * (this fl ashes

when it is between -3 and 3 °C),

status of the doors. The display
shows you, by means of a graphic,
whether a door is open,

warning messages (e.g. ''battery
charge fault'') or information mes-
sages (e.g. "fuel level low''), dis-
played temporarily, can be cleared
by pressing button 1 or 2 ,

-

trip computer.

Setting the parameters
Press button 1 for two seconds to access

the settings. The information fl ashes to

show it is ready to be modifi ed.
Then, individual presses on button 1
allow you to scroll through the various
data in the following sequence:
-

language in which the information is
displayed,

-

unit of distance (kms or miles),

-

unit of temperature (degrees Cel-
sius or Fahrenheit),

time format (12 then 24 hour mode),

Pressing button 2 allows you to change

pressure for rapid scrolling.
After 7 seconds without operation, the
screen returns to the normal display

When the ambient temperature is be-

SCREEN B

TRIP COMPUTER

ZERO RESET

Press the stalk for more than two seconds.

Range
This shows the distance that can still be
covered with the fuel remaining in the
tank.
Note:

this fi gure may increase if there

is a change in the style of driving or the

road surface, producing a signifi cant

drop in current fuel consumption.
When the range is less than 20 miles
(30 km), three segments are dis-

played. After fi lling with fuel, the range

is displayed when it exceeds 60 miles
(100 km).
If horizontal segments are displayed for
long periods instead of digits, contact a
PEUGEOT dealer.

Pressing the button on the end of the
wiper stalk enables the following data
to be displayed:

-

range

-

distance travelled

-

average fuel consumption

-

current fuel consumption

-

average speed

Average fuel consumption
This is the average fuel consumption
since the computer was last set to zero.

Current fuel consumption
This is the average fuel consumption
during the last few seconds.
This function is displayed only when the
vehicle is travelling at a speed greater
than 20 mph (30 km/h).

Distance travelled
This indicates the distance travelled
since the computer was last set to
zero.

Average speed
This is the average speed calculated
since the computer was last set to zero
(with the ignition on).

VENTILATION

System which creates and maintains
comfortable conditions in the vehicle's
passenger compartment.

Air paths

The incoming air follows various routes
depending on the controls selected by
the driver:
-

direct arrival in the passenger com-
partment (air intake),

-

passage through a heating circuit
(heating),

-

passage through a cooling circuit
(air conditioning).

The temperature control enables you to
obtain the level of comfort required by
mixing the air of the various circuits.
The air distribution control enables you
to diffuse the air in the passenger com-
partment combining several air vents.
The air fl ow control enables you to

increase or reduce the speed of the
ventilation blower.

The air circulating in the passenger

compartment is fi ltered and originates

either from the outside via the grille lo-
cated on the bonnet or from the inside
in air recirculation mode.

Control panel

The controls of this system are grouped
together on the centre console. De-
pending on the model, the functions
offered are:
-

the level of comfort required,

- air fl ow,
-

air distribution,

-

demisting and defrosting,

-

manual or digital air conditioning
controls.

Air diffusion

1. Windscreen demisting/defrosting vents.
2. Front

The air conditioning system does
not contain chlorine and does not
present any danger to the ozone
layer.

In order for these systems to be fully effective, follow the operation and
maintenance guidelines below:
 If the interior temperature remains very high after the vehicle has been

parked in the sun for a considerable time, fi rst ventilate the passenger

compartment for a few minutes.

Place the air fl ow control at a suffi cient level to provide an adequate renewal

of air in the passenger compartment.

 To obtain an even air distribution, take care not to obstruct the exterior air

intake grille located on the bonnet, the vents and the air passages under
the front seats.

 Operate the air conditioning system for 5 to 10 minutes, once or twice a

month to keep it in good working order.

Ensure that the passenger compartment fi lter is in good condition and

have the fi lter elements replaced regularly (refer to the "Checks" section).

We recommend the use of a combined passenger compartment fi lter.

Thanks to its second special active fi lter, it contributes to the purifi cation

of the air breathed by the occupants and the cleanliness of the passenger
compartment (reduction of allergic symptoms, bad odours and greasy
deposits).

 To ensure correct operation of the air conditioning system, you are also

advised to have it checked regularly.

 If the system does not produce cold air, do not use it and contact a PEUGEOT

dealer.

When towing the maximum load on a steep gradient in high temperatures,
switching off the air conditioning saves engine power and therefore improves
towing capacity.
The condensation created by the air conditioning results in a discharge of
water under the vehicle which is perfectly normal.

HEATING/VENTILATION

The heating and ventilation can only operate when the engine is running.

1. Temperature adjustment
Turn the control from blue (cold) to red
(hot) to adjust the temperature to suit
your requirements.

Windscreen and side windows
(demisting/defrosting).

2. Air distribution adjustment

Windscreen, side windows and
footwells.

Footwells.

Centre and side vents.

The air distribution can be adjusted by
placing the control in an intermediate
position.

3. Air fl ow adjustment

Turn the control from position 1
to position 4 to obtain an air

fl ow suffi cient to ensure your

comfort.

4. Air intake/Air recirculation
The recirculation of interior air prevents
exterior odours and smoke entering the
passenger compartment.
The intake of exterior air prevents and
eliminates misting of the windscreen
and side windows.

Air intake.

Air recirculation.

Move the manual control 4 to the right for

the "Interior air recirculation" position.
Move the manual control 4 to the left to

return to the "Exterior air intake" position

as soon as possible to prevent deteriora-
tion of the air quality.

These settings are recommended for
cold climates.

This setting is recommended for hot
climates.

MANUAL AIR CONDITIONING

The air conditioning system can only operate when the engine is running.

1. Temperature adjustment
 Turn the dial from blue (cold) to red

(hot) to adjust the temperature to
suit your requirements.

2. Air fl ow adjustment

Windscreen and side windows.

The intake of exterior air prevents the
formation of condensation on the wind-
screen and side windows.
The recirculation of interior air prevents
exterior odours and smoke from enter-
ing the passenger compartment.
Used simultaneously with the air condi-
tioning, the air recirculation improves its
performance.
Used in a damp climate, the air recircu-
lation may cause condensation to form
on the windows.
Return to exterior air intake mode as soon
as possible to avoid deterioration of the
air quality and prevent conden sation.

 Move the manual control to

the right to the "Interior air

recirculation" position.

 Turn the dial from position 1

to position 4 to obtain an

air fl ow suffi cient to ensure

your comfort.

If you place the air fl ow control in

position OFF (deactivation of the
system), the temperature is no
longer maintained at a comfortable

level. However, a slight fl ow of air,

due to the movement of the vehicle,
can still be felt.

Demisting - defrosting

To quickly demist or defrost the wind-
screen and side windows:
 place the air intake control 4 in the

"Exterior air intake" position,

 place the air distribution dial 3 in the

"Windscreen" position,

 place the temperature dial 1 and the

air fl ow dial 2 in the maximum posi-

tion,

 close the central vents,
 switch on the air conditioning by

pressing the "A/C" button.

5. Air conditioning On/Off

Switching on
 Press the "A/C" button, the associated

indicator lamp comes on.

The air conditioning does not operate

when the air fl ow adjustment dial 2 is

in position "OFF".

Switching off
 Press the "A/C" button again, the

associated indicator lamp switches
off.

HEATED REAR SCREEN

Switching on

The heated rear screen can only oper-
ate when the engine is running.
 Press this button to demist/defrost the

rear screen. The indicator lamp asso-
ciated with the button comes on.

Switching off

The heated rear screen switches off
automatically to prevent an excessive
consumption of current.
 It is possible to stop the demist-

ing/defrosting operation before it is
switched off automatically by press-
ing the button again. The indicator
lamp associated with the button
switches off.

If the engine is switched off before the
heated rear screen is switched off auto-
matically, demisting/defrosting will resume
next time the engine is switched on.
 Switch off the heated rear screen as

soon as appropriate as lower cur-
rent consumption results in reduced
fuel consumption.

The control button is located on
the air conditioning system con-
trol panel.

The air conditioning is designed
to operate effectively in all sea-
sons, with the windows closed.

It enables you to:
-

lower the temperature, in summer,

-

increase the effectiveness of the
demisting, in winter above 0 °C.

Demisting - defrosting

To quickly demist or defrost the wind-
screen and side windows:
 place the air intake control 4 in the

"Exterior air intake" position,

 place the air distribution dial 3 in the

"Windscreen" position,

 place the temperature dial 1 and the

air fl ow dial 2 in the maximum posi-

tion,

 close the central vents,
 switch on the air conditioning by

pressing the "A/C" button.

5. Air conditioning On/Off

Switching on
 Press the "A/C" button, the associated

indicator lamp comes on.

The air conditioning does not operate

when the air fl ow adjustment dial 2 is

in position "OFF".

Switching off
 Press the "A/C" button again, the

associated indicator lamp switches
off.

HEATED REAR SCREEN

Switching on

The heated rear screen can only oper-
ate when the engine is running.
 Press this button to demist/defrost the

rear screen. The indicator lamp asso-
ciated with the button comes on.

Switching off

The heated rear screen switches off
automatically to prevent an excessive
consumption of current.
 It is possible to stop the demist-

switched off automatically by press-
ing the button again. The indicator
lamp associated with the button
switches off.

If the engine is switched off before the
heated rear screen is switched off auto-
matically, demisting/defrosting will resume
next time the engine is switched on.
 Switch off the heated rear screen as

soon as appropriate as lower cur-
rent consumption results in reduced
fuel consumption.

The control button is located on
the air conditioning system con-
trol panel.

The air conditioning is designed

DIGITAL AIR CONDITIONING

1. Automatic comfort programme

Automatic operation

2. Temperature adjustment
The value indicated on the display cor-
responds to a level of comfort and not
to a temperature in degrees Celsius or
Fahrenheit.

3. Automatic visibility programme
The automatic comfort programme may

not be suffi cient to quickly demist or de-

frost the windscreen and side windows
(humidity, several passengers, ice...).

This system is designed to operate
effectively in all seasons, with the win-
dows closed.
When the engine is cold, to prevent
too great a distribution of cold air, the

air fl ow will only reach its optimum level

gradually.
In cold weather, it favours the distribu-
tion of warm air to the windscreen, the
side windows and the footwells only.

The air conditioning can only operate with the engine running.

 Press the "AUTO" button.

The "AUTO" symbol is dis-
played.

 Press the arrows 1 (up and

down) to change this value.

 In this case, select the auto-

matic visibility programme.

We recommend that you use this mode:
it provides optimised automatic con-
trol of all of the functions, passenger

compartment temperature, air fl ow,

air distribution and air recirculation, in
accordance with the comfort value that
you have selected.

The system automatically controls the

air conditioning, the air fl ow and the air

intake and provides optimum distribu-
tion of the ventilation to the windscreen
and side windows.
 To exit this programme, press the

"AUTO" button again.

A setting around 21 provides an opti-
mum level of comfort. Depending on
your requirements, a setting between
18 and 24 is usual.
On entering the vehicle, if the interior
temperature is much colder or warmer
than the comfort value, there is no need
to alter the value displayed in order to
obtain the required level of comfort. The
system corrects the temperature differ-
ence automatically and as quickly as
possible.
