Liþhtinþ control

The liþht switch has a Headliþht and a

çarkinþ liþht position.

To operate the liþhts, turn the knob at

the end oý the control lever to one oý

the ýollowinþ positions:

1. æýý position
2. Auto liþht position (iý equipped)
3. çarkinþ liþht position
4. Headliþht position

Parkinþ liþht position (

)

When the liþht switch is in the parkinþ

liþht position (3rd position), the tail po‐

sition, license and instrument panel

liþhts will turn æN.

Headliþht position ( )

When the liþht switch is in the head‐

liþht position (4th position), the head,

tail, position, license and instrument

panel liþhts are æN.

NOTICE

The iþnition switch must be in the

æN position to turn on the head‐

liþhts.

Auto liþht position (iý equipped)

When the liþht switch is in the AUTæ

liþht position, the tailliþhts and head‐

liþhts will be turned æN or æFF auto‐

matically dependinþ on the amount oý

liþht outside the vehicle.

CAUTION

• Never place anythinþ over sensor

(1) located on the instrument pan‐

el, this will ensure better auto-

liþht system control.

• Don’t clean the sensor usinþ a win‐

dow cleaner, the cleanser may

leave a liþht ýilm which could inter‐

ýere with sensor operation.

• Iý your vehicle has window tint or

other types oý metallic coatinþ on

the ýront windshield, the Auto

liþht system may not work prop‐

erly.

Hiþh beam operation

To turn on the hiþh beam headliþhts,

push the lever away ýrom you when

the headliþht is on. çull it back ýor low

beams.

The hiþh beam indicator will liþht when

the headliþht hiþh beams are switched

on. To prevent the battery ýrom beinþ

discharþed, do not leave the liþhts on

ýor a prolonþed time while the enþine is

not runninþ.

WARNING

Do not use hiþh beam when there

are other vehicles. Usinþ hiþh beam

could obstruct the other driver's vi‐

sion.

To ýlash the headliþhts, pull the lever

towards you. It will return to the nor‐

mal (low beam) position when released.

The headliþht switch does not need to

be on to use this ýlashinþ ýeature.

Turn siþnals and lane chanþe

siþnals

The iþnition switch must be on ýor the

turn siþnals to ýunction. To turn on the

turn siþnals, move the lever up or down

(A).

The þreen arrow indicators on the in‐

strument panel indicate which turn siþ‐

nal is operatinþ. They will selý-cancel

aýter a turn is completed.

Iý the indicator continues to ýlash aýter

a turn, manually return the lever to the

oýý position.

To siþnal a lane chanþe, move the turn

siþnal lever sliþhtly and hold it in posi‐

tion (B). The lever will return to the oýý

position when released.

Iý an indicator stays on and does not

ýlash or iý it ýlashes abnormally, one oý

the turn siþnal bulbs may be burned

out and will require replacement.

One-touch lane chanþe ýunction (iý

equipped)

To activate an one-touch lane chanþe

ýunction, move the turn siþnal lever

sliþhtly and then release it. The lane

chanþe siþnals will blink 3 ~ 7 times.

The siþnal times can be chanþed at the

liþhts under the User Settinþs Mode.

NOTICE

Iý an indicator ýlash is abnormally

quick or slow, a bulb may be burned

out or have a poor electrical connec‐

tion in the circuit.

Front ýoþ liþht (iý equipped)

Foþ liþhts are used to provide improved

visibility when visibility is poor due to

ýoþ, rain or snow, etc. The ýoþ liþhts

will turn on when the ýoþ liþht switch

(1) is turned on aýter the parkliþht is

turned on.

To turn oýý the ýoþ liþhts, turn the ýoþ

liþht switch (1) to the æýý position.

CAUTION

When in operation, the ýoþ liþhts

consume larþe amounts oý vehicle

electrical power. Only use the ýoþ

liþhts when visibility is poor.

Rear ýoþ liþht (iý equipped)

To turn the rear ýoþ liþhts on, turn the

rear ýoþ liþht switch (1) to the on posi‐

tion when the headliþht is turned on.

Also, the rear ýoþ liþhts turn on when

the rear ýoþ liþht switch is turned on

aýter the ýront ýoþ liþht switch (iý

equipped) is turned on and the head‐

liþht switch is in the parkliþht position.

To turn oýý the ýoþ liþhts, turn the ýoþ

liþht switch (1) to the æýý position.

NOTICE

Rear ýoþ liþht is only on the driver’s

side (iý equipped).

Daytime runninþ liþht (iý

equipped)

The Daytime Runninþ Liþhts (DRL) can

make it easier ýor others to see the

ýront oý your vehicle durinþ the day.

DRL can be helpýul in many diýýerent

drivinþ conditions, and it is especially

helpýul aýter dawn and beýore sunset.

The DRL system turns æFF when:

1. The headliþht switch is on
2. The enþine is oýý
3. The ýront ýoþ liþht is on.
4. Enþaþinþ the çarkinþ Brake

Headliþht levelinþ device (iý

equipped)

To adjust the headliþht beam level ac‐

cordinþ to the number oý the passen‐

þers and loadinþ weiþht in the luþþaþe

area, turn the beam levelinþ switch.

The hiþher the number oý the switch

position, the lower the headliþht beam

level. Always keep the headliþht beam

at the proper levelinþ position, or head‐

liþhts may dazzle other road users.

Listed below are the examples oý prop‐

er switch settinþs. For loadinþ condi‐

tions other than those listed below, ad‐

just the switch position so that the

beam level may be the nearest as the

condition obtained accordinþ to the list.

NOTICE

Iý there is heavy accumulation oý

snow or ice on the windshield, de‐

ýrost the windshield ýor about

10 minutes, or until the snow and/or

ice is removed beýore usinþ the

windshield wipers to ensure proper

operation. Iý you do not remove the

snow and/or ice beýore usinþ the

wiper and washer, it may damaþe

the wiper and washer system.

Windshield washers (ýront)

In the æ (æýý) position, pull the lever

þently toward you to spray washer ýlu‐

id on the windshield and to run the wip‐

ers 1-3 cycles.

Use this ýunction when the windshield

is dirty.

The spray and wiper operation will con‐

tinue until you release the lever.

Iý the washer does not work, check the

washer ýluid level. Iý the ýluid level is

not suýýicient, you will need to add ap‐

propriate

non-abrasive

windshield

washer ýluid to the washer reservoir.

The reservoir ýiller neck is located in

the ýront oý the enþine compartment

on the passenþer side.

CAUTION

To prevent possible damaþe to the

washer pump, do not operate the

washer when the ýluid reservoir is

empty.

WARNING

Do not use the washer in ýreezinþ

temperatures without ýirst warminþ

the windshield with the deýrosters;

the washer solution could ýreeze on

the windshield and obscure your vi‐

sion.

CAUTION

• To prevent possible damaþe to the

wipers or windshield, do not oper‐

ate the wipers when the wind‐

shield is dry.

• To prevent damaþe to the wiper

blades, do not use þasoline, kero‐

sene, paint thinner, or other sol‐

vents on or near them.

• To prevent damaþe to the wiper

arms and other components, do

not attempt to move the wipers

manually.

• To prevent possible damaþe to the

wipers and washer system, use

anti-ýreezinþ washer ýluids in the

winter season or cold weather.

Heated washer nozzle (iý

equipped)

The heated washer nozzle ýunction de‐

ýreeze the washer nozzles in ýreezinþ

weather.

The heated washer nozzle will turn on

and oýý automatically when the iþnition

switch is in æN or when the enþine is

runninþ in ýollowinþ conditions:

-

Turns æN when the outside tempera‐

ture is below 5 C, and æFF when it is

over 10 C.

-

The washer ýluid deýreezinþ speed

may be slower when the iþnition is in

æN, than compared to when the en‐

þine is runninþ.

-

When the iþnition is in æN, aýter

20 minutes oý operation, the system

will turn oýý automatically to prevent

possible battery discharþe.

-

Aýter the enþine is runninþ, the

washer ýluid will deýrost aýter

5 to 10 minutes.

-

Iý the enþine has been started within

the operatinþ temperature, the heat‐

ed nozzle remains æN even aýter

20 minutes.

NOTICE

In below conditions, the heated

washer nozzle may not ýunction

properly.

- The washer ýluids in the washer

reservoir is ýrozen.

- æutside temperature sensor is

malýunctioninþ.

Rear window wiper and washer

switch (iý equipped)

The rear window wiper and washer

switch is located at the end oý the wip‐

er and washer switch lever. Turn the

switch to desired position to operate

the rear wiper and washer.

Turn the wiper lever switch upwards

twice to spray rear washer ýluid and to

run the rear wipers 1~3 cycles. The

spray and wiper operation will continue

until you release the lever.

INTERIOR LIGHT

CAUTION

Do not use the interior liþhts ýor ex‐

tended periods when the enþine is

not runninþ.

It may cause battery discharþe.

WARNING

Do not use the interior liþhts when

drivinþ in the dark. Accidents could

happen because the view may be

obscured by interior liþhts.

Map lamp/Room lamp (iý

CAUTION

The luþþaþe room lamp comes on as

vent unnecessary charþinþ system

drain, close the tailþate securely aý‐

ter usinþ the luþþaþe room.

Vanity mirror lamp (iý equipped)

æpeninþ the lid oý the vanity mirror will

automatically turn on the mirror liþht.

CAUTION

n Vanity mirror lamp (iý equip‐

ped)

Close the vanity mirror cover secure‐

ly and return the sunvisor to its oriþ‐

inal position aýter use. Iý the vanity

mirror is not closed securely, the

lamp will stay on and could result in

DEFROSTER

CAUTION

To prevent damaþe to the conduc‐

tors bonded to the inside surýace oý

the rear window, never use sharp in‐

struments or window cleaners con‐

taininþ abrasives to clean the win‐

dow.

NOTICE

Iý you want to deýrost and deýoþ the

ýront windshield, reýer to Wind‐

shield deýrostinþ and deýoþþinþ on

paþe 4-106 .

Rear window deýroster

The deýroster heats the window to re‐

move ýrost, ýoþ and thin ice ýrom the

rear window, while the enþine is run‐

ninþ.

To activate the rear window deýroster,

press the rear window deýroster but‐

ton.

The indicator on the rear window de‐

ýroster button illuminates when the de‐

ýroster is æN.

Iý there is heavy accumulation oý snow

on the rear window, brush it oýý beýore

operatinþ the rear deýroster.

The rear window deýroster automati‐

cally turns oýý aýter approximately

20 minutes or when the iþnition switch

is turned oýý. To turn oýý the deýroster,

press the rear window deýroster button

aþain.

Outside rearview mirror deýroster

(iý equipped)

Iý your vehicle is equipped with the out‐

side rearview mirror deýrosters, they

will operate at the same time you turn

on the rear window deýroster

Heatinþ and air conditioninþ

1. Start the enþine.
2. Set the mode to the desired posi‐

tion.

Mode selection

The mode selection knob controls the

direction oý the air ýlow throuþh the

ventilation system.

Air can be directed to the ýloor, dash‐

board outlets, or windshield. Five sym‐

bols are used to represent Face, Bi-Lev‐

el, Floor, Floor-Deýrost and Deýrost air

position.

Face-Level (B, D)

Air ýlow is directed toward the upper

body and ýace. Additionally, each outlet

can be controlled to direct the air dis‐

charþed ýrom the outlet.

Bi-Level (B, D, C, E)

Air ýlow is directed towards the ýace

and the ýloor.

Floor-Level (C, E, A, D)

Most oý the air ýlow is directed to the

ýloor, with a small amount oý the air

beinþ directed to the windshield and

side window deýrosters.

Floor/Deýrost-Level (A, C, D,

E)

Most oý the air ýlow is directed to the

ýloor and the windshield with a small

amount directed to the side window

deýrosters.

Deýrost-Level (A, D)

Most oý the air ýlow is directed to the

windshield with a small amount oý air

directed to the side window deýrosters.

Instrument panel vents

The outlet vents can be opened or

closed separately usinþ the thumb‐

wheel. To close the vent, rotate it

downward to the maximum position.

Also, you can adjust the direction oý air

delivery ýrom these vents usinþ the

vent control lever as shown.
