Stop engine.
2.
Remove the drain plug and gasket and drain the fluid.
3.
Install the drain plug with a new gasket to the transfer. Tighten to
the specified torque. Refer to

CAUTION:
Do not reuse gasket.
TX15B Models
1.
Stop engine.
2.
Remove the drain plug and gasket and drain the fluid.
3.
Install the drain plug with a new gasket to the transfer. Tighten to
the specified torque. Refer to
.
CAUTION:
Do not reuse gasket.
FILLING
1.
Remove the filler plug and gasket.
2.
Fill the transfer with new fluid until the fluid level reaches the
specified limit near the filler plug hole.
CAUTION:
Carefully fill fluid. (Fill up for approx. 3 minutes.)
3.
Leave the vehicle for 3 minutes, and check fluid level again.
4.
Install the filler plug with a new gasket to the transfer. Tighten to the specified torque. Refer to
.

Changing Transfer Oil Filter — ATX14B Model

1.
Remove the three oil filter bolts and the oil filter.
CAUTION:
●
Do not damage the center case or the oil filter.
●
Loosen the oil filter bolts and detach the oil filter evenly.
2.
Remove the O-rings from the oil filter.
CAUTION:
Do not reuse the O-ring.
3.
Remove the filter stud from the oil filter.
4.
Remove the O-ring from the filter stud.
CAUTION:
Do not reuse the O-ring.
5.
Apply ATF to the O-ring, and install it on the filter stud.
CAUTION:
Do not reuse the O-ring.
6.
Install the filter stud on the oil filter.

7.
Apply ATF to the two O-rings, and install them on the oil filter.
CAUTION:
Do not reuse the O-rings.
8.
Install the oil filter to the transfer assembly. Tighten the bolts to
the specified torque.
CAUTION:
●
Do not damage the oil filter.
●
Attach the oil filter and tighten the three oil filter bolts
evenly.
9.
Check the transfer fluid. Refer to
MA-24, "FLUID LEAKAGE AND FLUID LEVEL"
.
10. Start the engine and let it idle for one minute. Then stop the engine and recheck the transfer fluid. Refer to
MA-24, "FLUID LEAKAGE AND FLUID LEVEL"
.
Checking Propeller Shaft

Check the front and rear propeller shafts for damage, dents, and cracks. Check the joints for looseness and
any damage. Repair or replace as necessary. Refer to

Checking Front Final Drive Oil

Adjust the wheel balance using the road wheel center. Refer to

Tire Rotation

1.
Rotate the tires on each side from front to back as shown, using
power tool.

Follow the maintenance schedule for tire rotation service
intervals. Refer to

Do not include the spare tire when rotating the tires.
CAUTION:
When installing wheels, tighten them diagonally by divid-
ing the work two to three times in order to prevent the
wheels from developing any distortion.
2.
Adjust the tire pressure to specification. Refer to
.
3.
After the tire rotation, retighten the wheel nuts after the vehicle has been driven for 1,000 km (600 miles),
and also after a wheel and tire have been installed such as after repairing a flat tire.
Checking Brake Fluid Level and Leaks

Check the brake fluid level in the reservoir tank. It should be
between the “MAX” and “MIN” lines on the reservoir tank.
●
Visually check around reservoir tank for fluid leaks.
●
If the fluid level is extremely low, check the brake system.
●
If the brake warning lamp comes on when the fluid is at the cor-
rect level, check the brake fluid level switch and the parking
brake switch.

If brake fluid leaks are visible around the brake line joints,
retighten the joint, or replace damaged parts as necessary.
2.
Check for brake fluid leaks by fully depressing brake pedal while
engine is running.
