P0001 FUEL PUMP

DTC Description

DTC DETECTION LOGIC

POSSIBLE CAUSE

• Harness or connectors (Fuel flow actuator circuit is open or shorted.)
• Fuel flow actuator

FAIL-SAFE

• EGR valve is closed position
• Throttle control motor is opened
• CSF regeneration forbidden
• CCSL deactivation with dashboard message
• ESP deactivated
• Rail pressure limitation

DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE

1.

PRECONDITIONING

If DTC Confirmation Procedure has been previously conducted, always turn ignition switch OFF and wait at
least 1 minute before conducting the next test.

>> GO TO 2.

2.

PERFORM DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE

1.

Turn ignition switch ON and wait at least 1 second.

2.

Check DTC.

Is DTC detected?

YES

>> Proceed to

EC-985, "Diagnosis Procedure"

.

NO-1

>> To check malfunction symptom before repair: Refer to

GI-44, "Intermittent Incident"

.

NO-2

>> Confirmation after repair: INSPECTION END

Diagnosis Procedure

1.

CHECK FUEL FLOW ACTUATOR POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT

1.

Turn ignition switch OFF.

2.

Disconnect fuel flow actuator harness connector.

3.

Turn ignition switch ON.

4.

Check the voltage between fuel flow actuator harness connector and ground.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES

>> GO TO 2.

DTC No.

• 1.DEF: INLET FLAP BLOCKED

CLOSED

• 2.DEF: INLET FLAP BLOCKED OPEN
• 3.DEF: OPERATION TEMPERATURE

TOO HIGH

• ECM detects a short circuit to ground.
• ECM detects a short circuit to battery.
• ECM detects a open circuit.
• ECM detects an over temperature.

>> Perform the trouble diagnosis for power supply circuit.

2.

CHECK FUEL FLOW ACTUATOR GROUND CIRCUIT FOR OPEN AND SHORT

1.

Turn ignition switch OFF.

2.

Disconnect ECM harness connector.

3.

Check the continuity between fuel flow actuator harness connector and ECM harness connector.

4.

Also check harness for short to ground and short to power.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES

>> GO TO 3.

NO

>> Repair or replace error-detected parts.

FUEL FLOW ACTUATOR

Refer to

EC-986, "Component Inspection (Fuel Flow Actuator)"

.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES

>> INSPECTION END

NO

>> Replace high pressure fuel pump.

CHECK FUEL FLOW ACTUATOR

1.

Disconnect fuel flow actuator harness connector.

2.

Check the resistance between fuel flow actuator terminals as follows.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES

>> INSPECTION END

NO

>> Replace high pressure fuel pump. Refer to

EM-341, "Removal and Installation"

POSSIBLE CAUSE

• Fuel flow actuator
• Fuel rail pressure sensor
• Fuel temperature sensor
• Low pressure fuel pump
• Fuel leakage
• Fuel filter clogged
• Injectors clogged
• Fuel leakage on fuel rail pressure limiter
• Fuel flow actuator blocked

FAIL-SAFE

• EGR valve is closed position
• Throttle control motor is opened
• Rail pressure limitation
• Freeshift inhibited
• CCSL deactivation
• CSF regeneration forbidden
• ESP deactivation
• AGB in limp home (if present)
• PLV opening (if present)
• Not limitation of calibrated performance
• Prohibit stop/start system
• ZFC correction inhibited (if strategy is present)
• FMO: Cancellation regulator (if strategy is present)
• FMO: Stop of the adaptation (if strategy is present)
• Strong vehicle speed limitation (30km/h)
• Torque limitation
• Overpressure on rail on 5 time
• Inhibition of regulation mode of fuel pressure regulator

CHECK DTC PRIORITY

If DTC P0002 is displayed with DTC P0001, P0115, P0190, P0200, P0201, P0202, P0203 or P0204, first per-
form the trouble diagnosis for DTC P0001, P0115, P0190, P0200, P0201, P0202, P0203 or P0204.

Is applicable DTC detected?

YES

>> Perform diagnosis of applicable. Refer to

EC-908, "DTC Index"

>> GO TO 2.

CHECK DTC PRIORITY

If DTC P0002 is displayed with DTC P0001, P0115, P0190, P0200, P0201, P0202, P0203 or P0204, first per-
form the trouble diagnosis for DTC P0001, P0115, P0190, P0200, P0201, P0202, P0203 or P0204.

Is applicable DTC detected?

YES

>> Perform diagnosis of applicable. Refer to

EC-908, "DTC Index"

>> GO TO 2.

CHECK FUEL LEVEL

Check that the fuel level is enough.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES

>> GO TO 3.

NO

>> Refuel.

3.

CHECK FUEL FILTER

Check the correctness of the fuel filter.
Is the inspection result normal?

YES

>> GO TO 4.

NO

>> Replace error-detected parts.

4.

CHECK FOR FUEL LEAK

Check for fuel leakage at fuel circuit.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES

>> GO TO 5.

NO

>> Repair or replace malfunctioning parts.

5.

CHECK FUEL TEMPERATURE SENSOR

Check fuel temperature sensor. Refer to

EC-989, "Component Inspection (Fuel Tempearature Sensor)"

.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES

>> GO TO 6.

NO

>> Replace error-detected parts.

6.

CHECK FUEL FLOW ACTUATOR

Check fuel flow actuator. Refer to

EC-989, "Component Inspection (Fuel Flow Actuator)"

.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES

>> GO TO 7.

NO

>> Replace error-detected parts.

7.

CHECK FUEL INJECTOR

Check fuel injector. Refer to

EC-989, "Component Inspection (Fuel Injector)"

.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES

>> GO TO 8.

NO

>> Replace error-detected parts.

8.

CHECK FUEL RAIL PRESSURE SENSOR CIRCUIT

Check fuel rail pressure sensor circuit. Refer to

EC-1014, "Diagnosis Procedure"

Is the inspection result normal?

YES

>> GO TO 9.

NO

>> Replace error-detected parts.

9.
