Manual up-and-down

window stops as soon as the switch is released.

All door one-touch auto

moves it downward if a foreign object gets jammed in the window during
one-touch auto-up operation.

REAR SUNSHADE

An electrical type rear sunshade, which blocks the direct sunlight entering through the rear window in or-

der to ensure the comfort of the rear seat passengers, has been adopted as an option.
This sunshade can easily be deployed or retracted by operating the rear sunshade switch located on the
console upper panel. To prevent the rear view from being blocked by the deployed sunshade, this switch
is provided with a reverse-linked auto-down function, which automatically lowers the screen when the
shift lever is engaged in reverse.

This system is controlled by the sunshade ECU, and receives the reverse position signal from the back-up

light switch to control the reverse-linked auto-down function.

Service Tip

As the compass system memorize the vehicle’s marked magnetic field, it is necessary to do calibration
for each vehicle. Once calibration has done, it is not necessary to do the calibration unless having a sud-
den magnetic field change. In case of occurrence of a sudden magnetic field change, “C” will be display
in the compass display and it is necessary to do the calibration again.
For details, refer to 2002 LEXUS ES300 Repair Manual (Pub. No. RM911U).

INSIDE REAR VIEW MIRROR

Compass Display

Earth magnetism sensor has been built-in inside the mirror which has less influence on the magnetization

of the vehicle. Thus, the accuracy has been improved.

The compass indicates the North as 0 and the forward direction of the vehicle by 8 azimuths.
By operating the “COMP” switch, whether or not to indicate the compass, establishment of the compass

zone and calibration can be performed.
