REMOVAL
NOTICE:
S
If the wiring connector of the SRS is disconnected
and the ignition switch is at ON position, DTCs will be
recorded.
S
Never use the airbag parts from another vehicle.
When replacing parts, replace them with new parts.
1.
REMOVE FRONT SEAT
(a)
Remove the 4 bolts.
(b)
Disconnect the side airbag connector.
NOTICE:
When handling the airbag connector, take care not to dam-
age the airbag wire harness.
(c)
Disconnect the power seat connector.
HINT:
Disconnect the connector after sliding the seat to the most front
position.

REMOVE HEADREST

REMOVE FRONT SEAT CUSHION SHIELD
(a)
Remove the power seat switch knobs.
(b)
Remove the 4 screws and front seat cushion shield, then
disconnect the connector.
4.
REMOVE FRONT SEAT INNER CUSHION COVER
Remove the 3 screws and front seat inner cushion cover.
5.
REMOVE NO. 1 FRONT SEAT CUSHION SHIELD
Remove the 2 screws and No. 1 front seat cushion shield.
6.
REMOVE SEAT CUSHION ASSEMBLY
(a)
Remove the wire harness from the seat cushion assem-
bly.
(b)
Remove the 4 bolts and seat cushion assembly.
7.
REMOVE SEAT CUSHION COVER
(a)
Remove the hog rings.
(b)
Disengage the seat cushion cover hook.
(c)
Remove the seat cushion cover with pad.
(d)
Remove the hog rings and seat cushion cover from the
pad.
8.
REMOVE SEATBACK ASSEMBLY
(a)
Remove the seatback board as shown in the illustration.
(b)
Remove the hog rings.
(c)
Remove the 4 seatback assembly set bolts.
NOTICE:
Be careful not to pull the side airbag assembly wire har-
ness.

(d)
Remove the 6 screws and seat cushion inside covers,
then disconnect the wire harness from the covers.
(e)
Disengage the wire harness clamps.
(f)
Remove the seatback assembly.
9.
REMOVE SEATBACK FRAME
(a)
Remove the hog rings.
(b)
Remove the 2 screws and disengage the seat cover hook
and retainer from the seatback frame.
(c)
Remove the headrest supports.
(d)
Remove the cap, bolt, washer, wave washer and armrest.
(e)
Remove the seatback frame from the seatback cover with
pad.

INSPECTION
1.
Vehicles not involved in collision:
INSPECT SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM
(a)
Do a diagnostic system check (See page DI–305).
(b)
Do a visual check which includes the following item with
the seatback assembly installed in the vehicle.
Check that there are no cuts and cracks of the outside of
side airbag assembly.
2.
Vehicle involved in a collision and airbag is not
deployed:
INSPECT SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM
(a)
Do a diagnostic system check (See page DI–305).
(b)
Do a visual check which includes the following items with
the seatback assembly removed from the vehicle.
S
Check cuts and cracks of the side airbag assembly.
S
Check cuts and cracks in wire harness, and chip-
ping in connectors.
CAUTION:
For removal and installation of the seatback assembly, see
page RS–39 and RS–49. Be sure to follow the correct pro-
cedure.
3.
Vehicle involved in a collision and airbag is deployed:
INSPECT SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM
(a)
Do a diagnostic system check (See page DI–305).
(b)
Do a visual check which includes the following items with
the seatback assembly removed from the vehicle.
S
Check the seatback installation part of the seat ad-
juster.
S
Check the damage to the connector and wire har-
ness.
CAUTION:
For removal and installation of the seatback assembly, see
page RS–39 and RS–49. Be sure to follow the correct pro-
cedure.
HINT:
If the seat adjuster is deformed, never repair it. Always replace
it with new one.
