TYRE UNDER-INFLATION DETECTION

A pressure sensor is located in the valve of each of these tyres.

The system triggers an alert if a drop in pressure is detected in one or
more tyres.

This system does not avoid the need to check the tyre pressures
regularly and before a long journey.
Driving with under-inflated tyres adversely affects road holding,
extends braking distances and causes premature tyre wear,
particularly under arduous conditions (vehicle loaded, high speed,
long journey).

System which automatically checks the pressures of the tyres while
driving.

The system continuously monitors the pressures of the four tyres, as
soon as the vehicle is moving.

Driving with under-inflated tyres increases fuel consumption.

The tyre pressures for your vehicle can be found on the tyre
pressure label (see the "Identification markings" section).
The tyre pressures must be checked when the tyres cold (vehicle
stopped for 1 hour or after driving for less then 6 miles (10 km) at
moderate speed). Otherwise, add 0.3 bar to the values indicated
on the label.

Spare wheel

Don't forget to also check the tyre pressure of the spare wheel.

The alloy spare wheel also has a sensor.

The steel spare wheel does not have a sensor.

The tyre under-inflation detection system is an aid to driving which
does not replace the need for vigilance on the part of the driver.

128

RCZ_en_Chap06_conduite_ed01-2015

In the event of a problem on one of the tyres, a symbol or a message is
displayed, depending on equipment, to identify it.
F Reduce speed, avoid sudden steering movements or harsh brake

applications.

F Stop as soon as it is safe to do so.
F In the event of a puncture, use the temporary puncture repair kit or

the spare wheel (according to equipment),

or
F if you have a compressor, the one in the temporary puncture repair

kit for example, check the four tyre pressures when cold,

or
F if it is not possible to check the tyre pressures at the time, drive

carefully at reduced speed.

UNdER-INFLATION ALERT

The alert is given by the fixed illumination of this warning
lamp, accompanied by an audible signal and the display of a
message.

The loss of pressure detected does not always lead to visible
deformation of the tyre. Do not rely on just a visual check.

With the ignition on, the pressure must be increased by at least
0.2 bar. If necessary, adjust the pressures to the values given on
the tyre pressure label.

The flashing and then fixed illumination of this warning
lamp accompanied by the illumination of the service
warning lamp indicates a fault with the system.

In this case, monitoring of the tyre pressures is not assured.

This alert is also displayed when one or more wheels is not fitted
with a sensor (steel spare wheel).

Go to a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop to have the system
checked or, following the repair of a puncture, to have the original
wheel, equipped with a sensor, refitted.

OPERATING FAULT

The alert is maintained until the tyre or tyres concerned is reinflated,
repaired or replaced.

SPEED LIMITER

System which prevents the vehicle from exceeding the speed
programmed by the driver.

When the programmed speed limit is reached, pressing the accelerator
pedal no longer has any effect.

The speed limiter is switched on

manually: it requires a programmed

speed of at least 20 mph (30 km/h).

The speed limiter is switched off by manual operation of the control.

The programmed speed can be exceeded temporarily by pressing the
accelerator firmly.
To return to the programmed speed, simply slow down to a speed below
the programmed speed.

The programmed speed remains in the memory when the ignition is
switched off.

The speed limiter cannot, in any circumstances, replace the need to respect
speed limits, nor can it replace the need for vigilance on the part of the driver.

On a steep descent or in the event of sharp acceleration,
the speed limiter will not be able to prevent the vehicle from
exceeding the programmed speed.

To avoid any risk of jamming of the pedals:

-

ensure that the mat is positioned correctly,

- do not fit one mat on top of another.

132

RCZ_en_Chap06_conduite_ed01-2015

CRUISE CONTROL

System which automatically maintains the speed of the vehicle at the
value programmed by the driver, without any action on the accelerator
pedal.

The cruise control is switched off manually or by pressing the brake or
clutch pedal or on triggering of the trajectory control system for safety
reasons.

Switching off the ignition cancels any programmed speed value.

STEERING MOUNTEd CONTROL

The functions of this system are grouped together on the steering
mounted control.

The cruise control cannot, in any circumstances, replace the need
to respect speed limits, nor can it replace the need for vigilance on
the part of the driver.

You are advised to keep your feet near the pedals at all times.

The cruise control is switched on

manually: it requires a minimum

vehicle speed of 25 mph (40 km/h) and the engaging:

-

of fourth gear on the manual gearbox,

- of second gear on the automatic gearbox, in sequential driving

mode,

-

of position d on the automatic gearbox.

DRIVING

135

RCZ_en_Chap06_conduite_ed01-2015

This function cannot, in any circumstances, take the place of the
vigilance of the driver.

Certain types of obstacle (stake, roadworks cone, etc.) detected
initially will no longer be detected at the end of the manoeuvre, if
they are located in blind spots in the sensors' field of detection.

PARKING SENSORS

REAR PARKING SENSORS

Audible assistance

The proximity information is given by an intermittent audible signal, the
frequency of which increases as the vehicle approaches the obstacle.
The sound emitted by the speaker (right or left) indicates the side on
which the obstacle is located.

When the distance between the vehicle and the obstacle becomes
less than approximately thirty centimetres, the audible signal becomes
continuous.

This system indicates the proximity of an obstacle (person, vehicle, tree,
gate, etc.) which comes within the field of detection of sensors located
in the bumper.

The system is switched on by engaging reverse gear. This is
accompanied by an audible signal.

The system is switched off when you come out of reverse gear.

136

RCZ_en_Chap06_conduite_ed01-2015

deactivation / Activation of the front and rear parking sensors

Visual assistance

FRONT PARKING SENSORS

In addition to the rear parking sensors, the front parking sensors are
triggered when an obstacle is detected in front and the speed of the
vehicle is still below 6 mph (10 km/h).

The front parking sensors are interrupted if the vehicle stops for more
than three seconds in forward gear, if no further obstacles are detected
or when the speed of the vehicle exceeds 6 mph (10 km/h).

This supplements the audible signal by displaying bars in the
multifunction screen which move progressively nearer to the vehicle.
When the obstacle is near, the "Danger" symbol is displayed in
the screen.

The function is deactivated by pressing this button. The indicator lamp
in the button comes on.

Pressing this button again reactivates the function. The indicator lamp in
the button goes off.

The sound emitted by the speaker (front or rear) indicates whether the
obstacle is in front or behind.

DRIVING

137

RCZ_en_Chap06_conduite_ed01-2015

deactivation / Activation of the rear parking sensors

The function is deactivated or activated via the vehicle configuration
menu.

The status of the function is stored when the ignition is switched off.

OPERATING FAULT

In the event of a malfunction of the system, when reverse gear
is engaged this warning lamp is displayed in the instrument
panel and/or a message appears in the screen, accompanied
by an audible signal (short beep).
Contact a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop.

In bad weather or in winter, ensure that the sensors are not
covered with mud, ice or snow. When reverse gear is engaged, an
audible signal (long beep) indicates that the sensors may be dirty.

Certain sound sources (motorcycle, lorry, pneumatic drill, etc.)
may trigger the audible signals of the parking sensor system.

The function will be deactivated automatically if a trailer is being
towed or a bicycle carrier is fitted (vehicle fitted with a towbar or
bicycle carrier recommended by PEUGEOT).

FUEL TANK

Fuel tank capacity: approximately 55 litres.

LOW FUEL LEVEL

REFUELLING

When the fuel tank minimum level is reached this warning
lamp comes on on the instrument panel, accompanied by an
audible signal and an alert message. When it first comes on
there remains approximately 5 litres of fuel in the tank.

Until sufficient fuel is added, this warning lamp appears every time
the ignition is switched on, accompanied by an audible signal and a
message. When driving, this audible signal and display of the alert
message are repeated with increasing frequency as the fuel level drops
towards "0".

Refuel as soon as possible to avoid running out of fuel.

If you run out of fuel (Diesel), refer also to the "Running out of fuel
(Diesel)" section.

A label affixed to the inside of the flap reminds you of the type of fuel to
be used depending on your engine.

Additions of fuel must be of at least 5 litres, in order to be registered by
the fuel gauge.

To fill the tank in complete safety:
F the engine must be switched off,
F

press the rear part of the flap, then raise it to open it,

F turn the cap to the left,

F remove the cap and hook it onto the clip located on the inside of the

flap,

F

fill the tank, but do not continue after the 3rd cut-off of the

pump; this could cause malfunctions.

Opening the filler cap may create a noise a caused by an inrush
of air. This vacuum is entirely normal, resulting from the sealing of
the fuel system.

140

RCZ_en_Chap07_verifications_ed01-2015

FUEL USEd FOR PETROL ENGINES

The petrol engines are compatible with E10 bio-petrol (containing
10 % ethanol), conforming to European standards EN 228 and EN 15376.

E85 type fuels (containing up to 85 % ethanol) are reserved exclusively for
vehicles marketed for the use of this type of fuel (BioFlex vehicles). The
quality of the ethanol must comply with European standard EN 15293.

FUEL USEd FOR dIESEL ENGINES

The Diesel engines are compatible with biofuels which conform to
current and future European standards (Diesel fuel which complies
with standard EN 590 mixed with a biofuel which complies with
standard EN 14214) available at the pumps (containing up to 7 % Fatty
Acid Methyl Ester).

B30 biofuel can be used in certain Diesel engines. However, this use,
even occasional, requires strict application of the special servicing

conditions. Contact a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop.
The use of any other type of (bio)fuel (vegetable or animal oils, pure
or diluted, domestic fuel...) is strictly prohibited (risk of damage to the
engine and fuel system).

When you have filled the tank:
F put the cap back in place,
F turn it to the right,
F

close the flap.

Freezing conditions

In these conditions, the filler flap may be jammed.
Opening the boot gives access to the flap, allowing it to be
released by hand.
