ACTION
APPLICABILITY

Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the Instrument Cluster C1 harness connector.
Disconnect the Park Brake Switch harness connector.
Measure the resistance of the Red Brake Warning Indicator Driver circuit between
the Switch and the Instrument Cluster.
Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms?
All
Yes
→ Replace the Instrument Cluster in accordance with the Service
Information.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.
No
→ Repair the Red Brake Warning Indicator Driver circuit between
the Park Brake Switch and the Instrument Cluster for an open.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.

Turn the ignition on.
With the DRBIII
t in Miscellaneous Engine Status #1, read the Brake Low Fluid
Reservoir Switch state.
Disconnect the Brake Warning Indicator (Fluid Level) Switch harness connector.
Connect a jumper wire between cavity A and cavity B of the Brake Warning Indicator
Switch harness connector.
With the DRBIII
t, observe the Brake Low Fluid input.
Did the Brake Low Fluid input change state?
All
Yes
→ Replace the Brake Warning Indicator (Fluid Level) Switch in
accordance with the Service Information.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.
No
→ Go To 6

Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the Brake Warning Indicator (Fluid Level) Switch harness connector.
Measure the resistance of the Brake Warning Indicator Switch ground circuit.
Is the resistance above 5.0 ohms?
All
Yes
→ Repair the Brake Warning Indicator (Fluid Level) Switch Ground
circuit for an open.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.
No
→ Go To 7

Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the PCM C2 harness connector.
Disconnect the Brake Warning Indicator (Fluid Level) Switch harness connector.
Measure the resistance of the Red Brake Warning Indicator Driver circuit between
the Switch and the PCM.
Is the resistance above 5.0 ohms?
All
Yes
→ Repair the Red Brake Warning Indicator Driver circuit for an
open.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.
No
→ Replace the Powertrain Control Module in accordance with the
Service Information.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.

Perform the Instrument Cluster self test.
Turn the ignition off.
Press and hold the Trip Reset button.
Turn the ignition on.
Observe the Brake Warning Indicator during the self test.
Did the Brake Warning Indicator illuminate?
All
Yes
→ The condition is not present at this time. Monitor DRBIIIt
parameters while wiggling the related wire harness. Refer to any
Technical Service Bulletins (TSB) that may apply. Visually in-
spect the related wiring harness and connector terminals.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.
No
→ Replace the Instrument Cluster in accordance with the Service
Information.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.

NOTE: Ensure that the Fog Lamps operate properly before proceeding with
this test. If not, select
(Service Information( from the menu and repair as
necessary.
Disconnect the Instrument Cluster C2 harness connector.
Turn the Headlamps on.
Turn the Fog Lamps on.
NOTE: Ensure that the battery is fully charged.
Measure the voltage between the Fog Lamp Switch Output circuit and ground.
Is the voltage greater than 10.0 volts?
All
Yes
→ Go To 2
No
→ Repair the Front Fog Lamp Switch Output circuit for an open..
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.

Perform the Instrument Cluster Self Test.
Turn the ignition off.
Press and hold the Trip Reset button.
Turn the ignition on.
Did the Front Fog Lamp indicator illuminate?
All
Yes
→ The condition is not present at this time. Monitor DRBIIIt
parameters while wiggling the related wire harness. Refer to any
Technical Service Bulletins (TSB) that may apply. Visually in-
spect the related wiring harness and connector terminals.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.
No
→ Replace the Instrument Cluster in accordance with the Service
Information.

NOTE: Diagnose and repair any Fuel Level DTCs before proceeding with
this test.
With the DRBIII
t, read DTCs.
Does the DRBIII
t display 9Fuel Level Sensor Open9 or 9Fuel Level Sensor Short9?
All
Yes
→ Refer to symptom list for problems related to Fuel Level Sensor
DTCs.
No
→ Go To 2

Perform the Instrument Cluster Self Test.
Depress and hold the Trip Odometer button while turning the ignition on.
Observe the Fuel Gauge calibration points during the Self Test.
The Fuel Gauge indicator needle should pause at the following positions:
Off: Empty Stop below
9E9
Calibration Point 1:
9E9
Calibration Point 2:
91/89
Calibration Point 3:
91/29
Calibration Point 4:
9F9
Calibration Point 5: Full Stop above
9F9
NOTE: Acceptable needle variation is approximately 2 degrees (1 pointer
width) of calibration point.
Did the Fuel Gauge needle pause at the correct calibration points?
All
Yes
→ Go To 3
No
→ Replace the Instrument Cluster in accordance with the Service
Information.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.

With the DRBIII
t, select Body, MIC, then Sensors.
Read the Fuel Sender Resistance.
Compare the Resistance displayed by the DRBIII
t to the Fuel Gauge pointer position
using the following values:
Approximately 109 - 167 Ohms of Fuel Sensor Resistance=
9E9
Approximately 185 - 254 Ohms of Fuel Sensor Resistance=
91/89
Approximately 489 - 610 Ohms of Fuel Sensor Resistance=
91/29
Approximately 740 Ohms of Fuel Sensor Resistance=
93/49
Approximately 950 Ohms of Fuel Sensor Resistance=
9F9
Is the displayed Fuel Tank Level Resistance correct?
All
Yes
→ Test Complete.
No
→ Replace the Fuel Level Sensor in accordance with the Service
Information.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.
