Symptom:
*DRIVER DOOR FAILS UNLOCK - PT27
POSSIBLE CAUSES
DRIVER DOOR UNLOCK RELAY OUTPUT CIRCUIT SHORT TO GROUND
REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY MODULE - DRIVER UNLOCK RELAY
TEST
ACTION
APPLICABILITY
1
Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the Remote Keyless Entry module connector.
Measure the resistance between ground and the Driver Door Unlock Relay Output
circuit.
Is the resistance below 5000.0 ohms?
All
Yes
→ Repair the Driver Door Unlock Relay Output circuit for a short to
ground.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.
No
→ Replace the Remote Keyless Entry Module.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.

POWER DOOR LOCKS/RKE
Symptom:
*LIFTGATE LOCK MOTOR FAILS TO LOCK OR UNLOCK
POSSIBLE CAUSES
LIFTGATE LOCK MOTOR
DOOR UNLOCK RELAY OUTPUT WIRE OPEN
DOOR UNLOCK RELAY OUTPUT WIRE SHORT TO GROUND
DOOR LOCK RELAY OUTPUT WIRE OPEN
DOOR UNLOCK RELAY OUTPUT SHORT TO DOOR LOCK RELAY OUTPUT
DOOR LOCK RELAY OUTPUT WIRE SHORT TO GROUND
TEST
ACTION
APPLICABILITY
1
Remove the liftgate trim panel to gain access to the Liftgate Lock Motor connector.
Disconnect the Liftgate Lock Motor connector.
Connect a test light between the Door Lock Relay Output and the Door Unlock Relay
Output circuits in the liftgate lock motor connector.
Press the door lock switch to the Lock and Unlock positions.
Did the test light illuminate when the lock switch was pressed in both directions?
All
Yes
→ Replace the Liftgate Lock Motor.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.
No
→ Go To 2

Turn ignition off.
Remove the liftgate trim panel to gain access to the Liftgate Lock Motor connector.
Disconnect the Liftgate Lock Motor connector.
Using a 12-volt test light connected to ground, check the Door Unlock Relay Output
circuit.
With the DRBIII
t, actuate the door unlock relay and observe the test light.
Does the test light illuminate brightly when the relay is actuated?
All
Yes
→ Go To 3
No
→ Repair the Door Unlock Relay Output wire for an open.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.

Turn ignition off.
Remove the liftgate trim panel to gain access to the Liftgate Lock Motor connector.
Disconnect the Liftgate Lock Motor connector.
Disconnect the Remote Keyless Entry module connector.
Measure the resistance of the Door Unlock Relay Output wire to ground.
Is the resistance below 1000.0 ohms?
All
Yes
→ Repair the Door Unlock Relay Output wire for a short to ground.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.
No
→ Go To 4

POWER DOOR LOCKS/RKE
TEST
ACTION
APPLICABILITY

Turn ignition off.
Remove the liftgate trim panel to gain access to the Liftgate Lock Motor connector.
Disconnect the Liftgate Lock Motor connector.
Using a 12-volt test light connected to ground, check the Door Lock Relay Output
circuit.
With the DRBIII
t, actuate the Door Lock Relay and observe the test light.
Does the test light illuminate brightly when the relay is actuated?
All
Yes
→ Go To 5
No
→ Repair the Door Lock Relay Output wire for an open.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.

Turn ignition off.
Remove the liftgate trim panel to gain access to the Liftgate Lock Motor connector.
Disconnect the Liftgate Lock Motor connector.
Disconnect the Remote Keyless Entry module connector.
Measure the resistance between the Door Unlock Relay Output circuit and the Door
Lock Relay Output circuit
Is the resistance below 1000.0 ohms?
All
Yes
→ Repair the Door Unlock Relay Output wire for a short to the Door
Lock Relay Output wire.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.
No
→ Go To 6
6
Turn ignition off.
Remove the liftgate trim panel to gain access to the Liftgate Lock Motor connector.
Disconnect the Liftgate Lock Motor connector.
Disconnect the Remote Keyless Entry module connector.
Measure the resistance of the Door Lock Relay Output wire to ground.
Is the resistance below 1000.0 ohms?
All
Yes
→ Repair the Door Lock Relay Output wire for a short to ground.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.
No
→ Test Complete.

*ONE DOOR FAILS TO LOCK AND UNLOCK - PT27
POSSIBLE CAUSES
*OPEN MOTOR - 27
DOOR (OR DRIVER DOOR) UNLOCK RELAY OUTPUT WIRE OPEN
DOOR LOCK RELAY OUTPUT WIRE OPEN
DOOR (OR DRIVER DOOR) UNLOCK RELAY OUTPUT CKT SHORT TO DOOR LOCK RELAY OUT-
PUT
RKE MODULE - DOOR LOCK OPEN
RKE MODULE - DOOR UNLOCK OPEN
RKE MODULE - SHORTED
TEST
ACTION
APPLICABILITY
1
Disconnect the inoperative Door Lock Motor/Ajar Switch connector.
Using a 12-volt test light, connect one end to the Door Lock Relay Output ckt and the
other to the Door (or Driver Door ) Unlock Relay Output ckt.
With the DRBIII
t, actuate the Door Lock Relay and then the Door (or Drv Door)
Unlock Relay and observe the test light..
Did the test light illuminate brightly when the switch was activated in both
directions?
All
Yes
→ Replace the Door Lock Motor.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.
No
→ Go To 2

Disconnect the inoperative Door Lock Motor/Ajar Switch.
Using a 12-volt test light connected to ground, check the Door Lock Relay Output
circuit.
With the DRBIII
t, actuate the Door Lock Relay and observe the test light.
Does the test light illuminate brightly when the relay is actuated?
All
Yes
→ Go To 3
No
→ Go To 6

Disconnect the inoperative Door Lock Motor/Ajar Switch.
Using a 12-volt test light connected to ground, check the Door (or Driver Door)
Unlock Relay Output circuit.
With the DRBIII
t, actuate the appropriate Door Unlock Relay and observe the test
light.
Does the test light illuminate brightly when the relay is actuated?
All
Yes
→ Go To 4
No
→ Go To 5
