TEST 1A
IDENTIFYING MEMORY SYSTEM PROBLEMS
Perform TEST SYMPTOM IDENTIFICATION 1A Before Proceeding
TEST 1A
IDENTIFYING MEMORY HEATED SEAT/MIRROR PROBLEMS
Diagnostics for the memory system are trouble code (DTC) driven. Almost all problems will have a
code to aide in diagnosis. Most codes will remain in memory for 20 ignition starts which can help in
diagnosing intermittent problems.
1. Ensure there is communication with the DRB, the Body Control Module (BCM), the Powertrain
Control Module (PCM) and the Memory Heated Seat/Mirror Module (MHSMM). If any
communication problems, perform . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .“Vehicle Communication” TEST 1A.
2. Using the DRB select ‘‘Body Computer’’, ‘‘Memory Seat Module’’ and ‘‘Read DTC’s’’
•
If no codes are present - monitor the DRB for ‘‘DTC’s’’ and operate all movements from the
switches and the RKE, reset both memory positions and operate the seat heaters. If there
are still no codes present yet a problem exists, using the DRB perform the ‘‘Switch Self
Test’’ and refer to the appropriate service manual for diagnostic procedures.
•
If codes are present - record the codes then erase them. Monitor the DRB for ‘‘DTC’s’’ and
operate all movements from the switches and the RKE, reset both memory positions and
operate the seat heaters. When the first code appears, stop and perform the respected
repair procedure from the list below.
•
If there are no codes present, proceed to step 3.
