Chrysler Crossfire. Manual — part 55
OPERATION
The BAS vacuum-powered brake booster functions like a typical brake booster under normal driving conditions.
During an emergency stop condition, the BAS control module detects a rapid rate of brake application by the BAS
diaphragm travel sensor (8). In the case of a BAS brake application, the BAS solenoid valve (2) opens the poppet
valve (5), which admits atmospheric pressure from inside the vehicle from the air filters (3-4) located at the rear of
the BAS vacuum-powered brake booster (1).
The full assistance from the brake booster is transmitted to the master cylinder from the output rod (10). When the
brake application is terminated, the control module receives a signal from the BAS release switch (6) and the BAS
solenoid valve (2) closes again. The BAS assistance is terminated.
