13. Attach the shift rod to the transmission shift arm

and install the retaining clip (1).

14. Install the transmission drain plug (2) with a new

gasket (1). Tighten the drain plug to 20 N·m (15 ft.
lbs.).

15. Install the propeller shaft. (Refer to 3 - DIFFER-

ENTIAL & DRIVELINE/PROPELLER SHAFT -
INSTALLATION).

16. Install the lower splash shield and screws (1).

Tighten the screws to 5 N·m (44 in. lbs.).

17. Lower the vehicle.

18. Connect the negative battery cable.

19. Fill the transmission to the specified level with the

specified transmission fluid.

20. Start the engine and check for leaks.

21. Check the transmission fluid level using Special

Tool 8863–A.
