TELESCOPIC SENSOR
TELESCOPIC SENSOR
Description
INFOID:0000000005515381
• The telescopic sensor is installed to the steering column assembly.
• The pulse signal is inputted to the driver seat control unit when telescopic is performed.
• The driver seat control unit counts the pulse and calculates the telescopic amount of the steering column.
Component Function Check

1.
CHECK FUNCTION
1.
Select “TELESCO PULSE” in “Data monitor” mode with CONSULT-III.
2.
Check telescopic sensor signal under the following conditions.

: The value at the seat position attained when the battery is connected is considered to be 32768.
Is the indication normal?
YES
>> INSPECTION END
NO
>> Perform diagnosis procedure. Refer to
Diagnosis Procedure

CHECK TELESCOPIC SENSOR SIGNAL
1.
Turn ignition switch ON.
2.
Check voltage signal between driver seat control unit connector and ground with oscilloscope.
Is the inspection result normal?
YES
>> Replace driver seat control unit. Refer to
ADP-209, "Removal and Installation"
NO
>> GO TO 2.
2.
CHECK TELESCOPIC SENSOR CIRCUIT
1.
Turn ignition switch OFF.
2.
Disconnect driver seat control unit and telescopic motor connector.
3.
Check continuity between driver seat control unit harness connector and telescopic motor harness con-
nector.

Check continuity between driver seat control unit harness connector and ground.
Is the inspection result normal?
YES
>> GO TO 3.
NO
>> Repair or replace harness or connector.
3.
CHECK TELESCOPIC SENSOR POWER SUPPLY
1.
Connect driver seat control unit connector.
2.
Turn ignition switch ON.
3.
Check voltage between telescopic motor harness connector and ground.
Is the inspection result normal?
YES
>> GO TO 5.
NO
>> GO TO 4.
4.
CHECK TELESCOPIC SENSOR POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT
1.
Turn ignition switch OFF.
2.
Disconnect automatic drive positioner control unit connector.
3.
Check continuity between automatic drive positioner control unit harness connector and telescopic motor
harness connector.
4.
Check continuity between automatic drive positioner control unit harness connector and ground.
Is the inspection result normal?
YES
>> Replace automatic drive positioner control unit. Refer to
ADP-210, "Removal and Installation"
.
NO
>> Repair or replace harness or connecter.
5.
CHECK TELESCOPIC SENSOR GROUND CIRCUIT
1.
Turn ignition switch OFF.
2.
Disconnect automatic drive positioner control unit connector.
3.
Check continuity between automatic drive positioner control unit harness connector and telescopic motor
harness connector.

DRIVER SIDE : Description

• The mirror sensor (driver side) is installed to the door mirror (driver side).
• The resistance of 2 sensors (horizontal and vertical) is changed when the door mirror (driver side) is oper-
ated.
• Automatic drive positioner control unit calculates the door mirror position according to the change of the volt-
age of 2 sensor input terminals.

CHECK FUNCTION
1.
Select “MIR/SEN LH U-D”, “MIR/SEN LH R-L” in “Data monitor” with CONSULT-III.
2.
Check mirror sensor (driver side) signal under the following condition.
Is the indication normal?
YES
>> INSPECTION END
NO
>> Perform diagnosis procedure. Refer to
ADP-95, "DRIVER SIDE : Diagnosis Procedure"

CHECK DOOR MIRROR (DRIVER SIDE) SENSOR POWER SUPPLY
1.
Turn ignition switch OFF.
2.
Disconnect door mirror (driver side) connector.
3.
Turn ignition switch ON.
4.
Check voltage between door mirror (driver side) harness connector and ground.
Is the inspection result normal?
YES
>> GO TO 3.
NO
>> GO TO 2.
2.
CHECK DOOR MIRROR (DRIVER SIDE) SENSOR POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT
1.
Turn ignition switch OFF.
2.
Disconnect automatic drive positioner control unit connector.
3.
Check continuity between automatic drive positioner control unit harness connector and door mirror
(driver side) harness connector.
4.
Check continuity between automatic drive positioner control unit harness connector and ground.
