CONSOLE DUCTS AND CONSOLE GRILLE
Removal

The center console must be removed and disassembled to remove the console ducts and the console grille.
Refer to

IP-16, "CENTER CONSOLE"

Installation

Installation is in the reverse order of removal.

DEFROSTER NOZZLE
Removal

1.

Remove the heater and cooling unit assembly. Refer to

MTC-88, "HEATER & COOLING UNIT ASSEM-

BLY"

.

2.

Remove the defroster nozzle.

Installation

Installation is in the reverse order of removal.

RH AND LH SIDE DEMISTER DUCTS
Removal

1.

Remove the heater and cooling unit assembly. Refer to

MTC-88, "HEATER & COOLING UNIT ASSEM-

BLY"

.

2.

Remove the RH or LH side demister duct.

Installation

Installation is in the reverse order of removal.

RH AND LH VENTILATOR DUCTS
Removal

1.

Remove the heater and cooling unit assembly. Refer to

MTC-88, "HEATER & COOLING UNIT ASSEM-

BLY"

.

2.

Remove the RH or LH ventilator duct.

Installation

Installation is in the reverse order of removal.

CENTER VENTILATOR DUCT
Removal

1.

Remove the heater and cooling unit assembly. Refer to

MTC-88, "HEATER & COOLING UNIT ASSEM-

BLY"

2.

Remove the defroster nozzle.

3.

Remove the RH and LH ventilator ducts.

4.

Remove the RH and LH side demister ducts.

5.

Remove the center ventilator duct.

Installation

Installation is in the reverse order of removal.

FLOOR CONNECTOR DUCT
Removal

1.

Remove the heater and cooling unit assembly. Refer to

MTC-88, "HEATER & COOLING UNIT ASSEM-

BLY"

.

2.

Remove the floor connector duct.

Installation

Installation is in the reverse order of removal.

FRONT AND REAR FLOOR DUCTS
Removal

1.

Remove the floor carpet. Refer to

EI-30, "FLOOR TRIM"

.

2.

Remove the clips and front and rear floor ducts.

Installation

Installation is in the reverse order of removal.

Removal

1.

Remove the interior trim panel as necessary that contains the grille to be removed. Refer to

IP-10,

"INSTRUMENT PANEL ASSEMBLY"

and

EI-28, "BODY SIDE TRIM"

2.

Remove the grille from the interior trim panel.

Installation

Installation is in the reverse order of removal.

HFC-134a (R-134a) Service Procedure

SETTING OF SERVICE TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT
Discharging Refrigerant

WARNING:

Avoid breathing A/C refrigerant and oil vapor or mist. Exposure may irritate eyes, nose and throat.
Remove HFC-134a (R-134a) refrigerant from the A/C system using certified service equipment meeting
requirements of SAE J2210 HFC-134a (R-134a) recycling equipment or SAE J2201 HFC-134a (R-134a)
recovery equipment. If an accidental system discharge occurs, ventilate the work area before resum-
ing service. Additional health and safety information may be obtained from the refrigerant and oil man-
ufacturers.

Removal and Installation for Compressor

COMPONENTS

A/C Compressor Mounting

REMOVAL

1.

Discharge the A/C refrigerant. Refer to

MTC-99, "HFC-134a (R-134a) Service Procedure"

.

2.

Remove the front left wheel and tire assembly. Refer to

WT-7, "Rotation"

.

3.

Remove the front left mud guard.

4.

Remove the front left splash shield.

5.

Remove the engine air cleaner and air ducts. Refer to

EM-16, "AIR CLEANER AND AIR DUCT"

.

6.

Remove the drive belt. Refer to

EM-14, "DRIVE BELTS"

.

7.

Disconnect the compressor harness connector.

8.

Disconnect both the high-pressure flexible A/C hose and low-pressure flexible A/C hose from the com-
pressor.

CAUTION:

Cap or wrap the joint of the pipe with suitable material such as vinyl tape to avoid the entry of air.

9.

Remove the A/C compressor bolts using power tools.

INSTALLATION

Installation is in the reverse order of removal.

CAUTION:

Replace the O-ring of the low-pressure flexible A/C hose and high-pressure flexible A/C hose with
a new one, apply compressor oil to the O-rings before installation.

After recharging the A/C system with refrigerant, check for leaks. Refer to

MTC-110, "Checking for

Refrigerant Leaks"
