P1715 INPUT SPEED SENSOR
Description
INFOID:0000000009022635
ECM receives input speed sensor signal from TCM via the CAN communication line. ECM uses this signal for
engine control.

• If DTC P1715 is displayed with DTC UXXXX, first perform the trouble diagnosis for DTC UXXXX.

DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE
1.
PRECONDITIONING
If DTC Confirmation Procedure has been previously conducted, always perform the following before conduct-
ing the next test.
1. Turn ignition switch OFF and wait at least 10 seconds.
2. Turn ignition switch ON.
3. Turn ignition switch OFF and wait at least 10 seconds.
>> GO TO 2.

PERFORM DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE
1. Start engine and drive the vehicle at more than 50 km/h (31 MPH) for at least 5 seconds.
CAUTION:
Always drive vehicle at a safe speed.
2. Check 1st trip DTC.
Is 1st trip DTC detected?
YES
>> Proceed to

>> INSPECTION END

Description

ECM receives two vehicle speed signals via the CAN communication line. One is sent from “ABS actuator and
electric unit (control unit)” via combination meter, and the other is from TCM (Transmission control module).
ECM uses these signals for engine control.

1. Turn ignition switch OFF.
2. Check the stop lamp when depressing and releasing the brake pedal.

CHECK STOP LAMP SWITCH POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT
1. Turn ignition switch OFF.
2. Disconnect stop lamp switch harness connector.
3. Check the voltage between stop lamp switch harness connector and ground.

YES

NO
>> Perform the trouble diagnosis for power supply circuit.

CHECK STOP LAMP SWITCH INPUT SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR OPEN AND SHORT
1. Disconnect stop lamp switch harness connector.
2. Disconnect ECM harness connector.
3. Check the continuity between ECM harness connector and stop lamp switch harness connector.
