WARNING:

Read “General Precautions” when working on the fuel system. Refer to

FL-2, "General Precautions"

.

REMOVAL

1.

Check fuel level on a level ground. If the fuel level is 7/8 of the fuel tank (full or nearly full), draw appropri-
ate amount of fuel from the fuel tank.

• In the event of malfunction in fuel pump, insert a hose measuring 25 mm (0.98 in) in diameter into the

filler opening to draw approximately 20 liters fuel.

2.

Release the fuel pressure from the fuel lines. Refer to

EC-124, "Work Procedure"

.

3.

Open fuel filler lid.

4.

Open filler cap and release the pressure inside fuel tank.

5.

Remove rear seat cushion and reclining device assembly. Refer to

SE-48, "Exploded View"

.

6.

Remove inspection hole cover. Refer to

SE-48, "Exploded View"

.

7.

Peel off floor carpet, then remove inspection hole cover units by
turning clips clockwise by 90 degrees.

Disconnect harness connector, fuel feed tube and EVAP hose.

Disconnect quick connector as follows:

• Hold the sides of connector, push in tabs (B) and pull out fuel

feed tube.

• If quick connector sticks to tube of main fuel level sensor unit,

push and pull quick connector several times until they start to
move. Then disconnect them by pulling.

CAUTION:

• Quick connector (1) can be disconnected when the tabs

(F) are completely depressed. Never twist it more than
necessary.

• Never use any tools to disconnected quick connector.
• Keep resin tube (C) away from heat. Be especially careful

when welding near the resin tube.

• Prevent acid liquid such as battery electrolyte, etc. from

getting on resin tube.

• Never bend or twist resin tube during installation and dis-

connection.

• Never remove the remaining retainer (2) on hard tube (or

the equivalent) (A) except when resin tube or retainer is
replaced.

• When resin tube or hard tube (or the equivalent) is

replaced, also replace retainer with new one.

age and foreign materials, cover them completely with
plastic bags (A) or something similar.

9.

Remove retainer for main fuel level sensor unit, fuel filter and
fuel pump assembly and sub fuel level sensor unit with fuel tank
lock ring wrench (SST) by turning counterclockwise.

10. Remove main fuel level sensor unit, fuel filter and fuel pump assembly, and sub fuel level sensor unit.

• Raise main fuel level sensor unit, fuel filter and fuel pump

assembly, and disconnect fuel hose connector (push in tabs
and pull out) and sub fuel level sensor unit harness connector.

• Raise and release sub fuel level sensor unit to remove.

INSTALLATION

Note to the following, and install in the reverse order of removal.

Main and Sub Fuel Level Sensor Unit

1.

Install new seal packing to fuel tank without any twist.

2.

Connect fuel hose connector (push in until it stops) and sub fuel
level sensor unit harness connector.
NOTE:
When installing fuel hose connector insert them fully until a click
sound of full stopper engagement is heard.

pump assembly and sub fuel level sensor unit with fuel tank lock
ring wrench (SST) by turning clockwise.

CAUTION:

Install retainer horizontally.

Quick Connector

Connect quick connector as follows:

1.

Check the connection for damage or any foreign materials.

2.

Align the connector with the tube, then insert the connector straight into the tube until a click sound is
heard.

3.

After connecting, check that the connection is secure by following method.
• Pull (A) the tube and the connector to check they are securely

connected.

• Visually confirm that the two retainer tabs are connected to the

connector.

PRECAUTION

PRECAUTIONS

Precaution for Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) "AIR BAG" and "SEAT BELT
PRE-TENSIONER"

INFOID:0000000007564369

The Supplemental Restraint System such as “AIR BAG” and “SEAT BELT PRE-TENSIONER”, used along
with a front seat belt, helps to reduce the risk or severity of injury to the driver and front passenger for certain
types of collision. This system includes seat belt switch inputs and dual stage front air bag modules. The SRS
system uses the seat belt switches to determine the front air bag deployment, and may only deploy one front
air bag, depending on the severity of a collision and whether the front occupants are belted or unbelted.
Information necessary to service the system safely is included in the “SRS AIR BAG” and “SEAT BELT” of this
Service Manual.

WARNING:

Always observe the following items for preventing accidental activation.
• To avoid rendering the SRS inoperative, which could increase the risk of personal injury or death in

the event of a collision that would result in air bag inflation, all maintenance must be performed by
an authorized NISSAN/INFINITI dealer.

• Improper maintenance, including incorrect removal and installation of the SRS, can lead to personal

injury caused by unintentional activation of the system. For removal of Spiral Cable and Air Bag
Module, see “SRS AIR BAG”.

• Never use electrical test equipment on any circuit related to the SRS unless instructed to in this Ser-

vice Manual. SRS wiring harnesses can be identified by yellow and/or orange harnesses or harness
connectors.

PRECAUTIONS WHEN USING POWER TOOLS (AIR OR ELECTRIC) AND HAMMERS

WARNING:

Always observe the following items for preventing accidental activation.
• When working near the Air Bag Diagnosis Sensor Unit or other Air Bag System sensors with the

ignition ON or engine running, never use air or electric power tools or strike near the sensor(s) with
a hammer. Heavy vibration could activate the sensor(s) and deploy the air bag(s), possibly causing
serious injury.

• When using air or electric power tools or hammers, always switch the ignition OFF, disconnect the

battery, and wait at least 3 minutes before performing any service.

Precaution for Battery Service

INFOID:0000000007564370

Before disconnecting the battery, lower both the driver and passenger windows. This will prevent any interfer-
ence between the window edge and the vehicle when the door is opened/closed. During normal operation, the
window slightly raises and lowers automatically to prevent any window to vehicle interference. The automatic
window function will not work with the battery disconnected.

Precaution for Procedure without Cowl Top Cover

INFOID:0000000007564371

When performing the procedure after removing cowl top cover, cover
the lower end of windshield with urethane, etc to prevent damage to
windshield.

Precautions for Suspension

INFOID:0000000007564372

• When installing rubber bushings, the final tightening must be carried out under unladen conditions with tires

on ground. Spilled oil might shorten the life of rubber bushings. Be sure to wipe off any spilled oil.

- Unladen conditions mean that fuel, engine coolant and lubricant are full. Spare tire, jack, hand tools and

• After servicing suspension parts, be sure to check wheel alignment.
• Self-lock nuts are not reusable. Always use new ones when installing. Since new self-lock nuts are pre-oiled,

tighten as they are.
