Each switch can be replaced without removing combination
switch base.

To remove combination switch base, remove base attaching
screw.

Before installing the steering wheel, align the steering wheel
guide pins with the screws which secure the combination
switch as shown in the left figure.

System Description

The headlamp operation is controlled by the lighting switch which is built into the combination switch.
Power is supplied at all times
I
to lighting switch terminal 8
I
to headlamp relay terminal 6
I
through 15A fuse (No. 42, located in the fuse and fusible link box), and
I
to lighting switch terminal 5
I
to headlamp relay terminal 3
I
through 15A fuse (No. 41, located in the fuse and fusible link box).
HEADLAMP SWITCH OPERATION

Low Beam Operation

When the lighting switch is turned to the 2ND position and placed in LOW (“B”) position, power is supplied
I
from lighting switch terminal 10
I
to terminal 1 of the headlamp LH, and
I
from lighting switch terminal 7
I
to terminal 1 of the headlamp RH.
Terminal 2 of each headlamp supplies ground through body grounds E43 and E57.
With power and ground supplied, the low beams will illuminate.
High Beam Operation/Flash-to-Pass Operation

When the lighting switch is turned to the 2ND position and placed in HIGH (“A”) position or PASS (“C”) position,
power is supplied
I
from lighting switch terminal 6
I
to terminal 3 of the headlamp RH, and
I
from lighting switch terminal 9
I
to terminal 3 of the headlamp LH,
I
to headlamp relay terminal 1
I
to combination meter terminal 40 for the high beam indicator.
Ground is supplied
I
to terminal 29 of the combination meter through body grounds M1 and M67, and
I
to headlamp relay terminal 2 through body grounds E43 and E57.
Then headlamp relay is energized and power is supplied to terminal 1 of each headlamp.
Terminals 2 and 4 of each headlamp supply ground through body grounds E43 and E57.
With power and ground supplied, the high beams, the low beams and the high beam indicator illuminate.
