Kia Sedona (2008 year). Manual — part 160
MONITOR DTC STATUS
1. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC).
2. Ignition "ON" & engine "OFF".
3. Select "Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC s)" mode and monitor "DTC Status" parameter.
4. Is the DTC B1624 present?
YES
Go to COMPONENT INSPECTION procedure.
NO
Fault is intermittent caused by poor contact in the sensor's and/or ECM's connector or was repaired and
ECM memory was not cleared. Thoroughly check connectors for looseness, poor connection, bending,
corrosion, contamination, deterioration, or damage. Repair or replace as necessary and then go to
"VERIFICATION OF VEHICLE REPAIR" procedure.
COMPONENT INSPECTION
1. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC).
2. Ignition "ON" & engine "OFF".
3. Erase the DTC.
4. Is the DTC erased?
YES
Check connectors for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, or
damage. Repair or replace as necessary and then go to "VERIFICATION OF VEHICLE REPAIR"
procedure.
NO
Substitute with a known-good IPM and check for proper operation. If the problem is corrected, replace
IPM and then go to "VERIFICATION OF VEHICLE REPAIR" procedure.
VERIFICATION OF VEHICLE REPAIR
Refer to DTC B1102.

(Controller Area Network) communication system. CAN is a kind of communication system which can make
related component share system information with just two line instead of complex individual signal line. It
consists of related component and CAN BUS which consists of CAN_high line and CAN_low line. Each
component can send and receive information by binary signal via CAN BUS. The related components for BCM
are IPM, ADM, DDM, FAM, RAM, IMS and cluster module. RF module is located in IPM and translates RKE
signal to IPM.
DTC DESCRIPTION
The ECM sets DTC B1628 if regional properties of RF module and IPM are different.
DTC DETECTING CONDITION
Refer to DTC B1624.
MONITOR DTC STATUS
1. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC).
2. Ignition "ON" & engine "OFF".
3. Select "Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC s)" mode and monitor "DTC Status" parameter.

COMPONENT INSPECTION
1. Check IPM
1. Check regional properties of RF module and RKE.
2. Dose regional properties of RF module coincide with RKE?
YES
Check connectors for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration,
or damage. Repair or replace as necessary and then go to "VERIFICATION OF VEHICLE
REPAIR" procedure.
NO

VERIFICATION OF VEHICLE REPAIR
Refer to DTC B1102.
DTC B1646 SOFTWARE RESCUE MODE
COMPONENT LOCATION
Refer to DTC B1624.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
When signal error occurs in BCM module, Rescue mode is activated for the safety or driver. System operating
state is divided into Normal mode, Safe mode and Rescue mode. Normal mode indicates every modules are in
good condition, Safe mode is the transitional mode between Normal and Rescue mode which prevents system
jamming caused by intermittent abnormal signal. If error signal is inputted to BCM continuously in Safe mode,
Rescue mode - the next mode - is activated. Rescue mode is classified into software Rescue mode which is
applied when important CAN signal or hardware input is unavailable and hardware Rescue mode which is
applied when hardware Watchdog toggle does not turn on. When system comes to be in normal operating
condition, Rescue mode is deactivated then it returns to Normal mode.
DTC DESCRIPTION
The ECM sets DTC B1624 if there's any fault in writing/reading IPM EEPROM data procedure.
