Circuit operation

Front, rear room lamp and cargo room lamp

Battery voltage is always applied to the room lamps through the "ROOM (10A)" fuse and R wire. In case that
each room lamp switches is in DOOR position, when one or more door is opened the lamps will illuminate. The
room lamps illuminate independently and respectively by turning lamp switch.

Sunglasses lamp

Battery voltage is applied from "ROOM (10A)" fuse to sunglasses lamp through the R wire. The other side of
sunglasses lamp is grounded permanently.

Component

Interior light provides light for entering exiting of passenger compartment (doors open). It can also be used to provide
light when doors are closed. It is positined at center of headliner, it is both serviceable and replaceable.

Troubleshooting

Room lamps do not operate in ON position.

Preliminary check:
Check an open lamp filament before proceeding with diagnosis. If bulb is damaged, check connection of the
bulb and replace bulb. In addition, check "ROOM (10A)" fuse. If open, check for short to ground though the
wire, replace fuse and check that all system electrical connectors mated correctly. With all doors closed,
perform this procedure.

Is battery voltage present respectively?

Tes

Check for room lamp.

No

Repair open or short in the
wire "R" or replace.

Room lamps do not operate in DOOR position.

No

Repair open or short in R
wire or replace as necessary.

Check for continuity between following terminal and ground
by opening the relevant door.
Is continuity present

Yes

Go to next step

No

Check for a poor connection
at door switch. If OK, repair
or replace damaged door
switch.

Check for continuity between following terminal and ground
by opening doors one after another.
Is continuity present?

Yes

Check for a poor connection
at room lamp. If OK, repair or
replace damaged room lamp.

No

Repair open or short in the
wire "G" or replace.
