Circuit operation

Front room lamp

Battery voltage is always applied from "ROOM (10A)" fuse to the front room lamp through the R wire. When the
front room lamp switch in turned to "ON" position, the front room lamp is grounded through the switch and B
wire. The front room lamps illuminate.
With the front room lamp switch in "DOOR" position, the lamps are connected to the all door switches through
the G wire. When one of five doors is opened (i.e. door switch is closed) the front room lamp is grounded
through the door switch and the front room lamp illuminates. If the open door is closed, the front room goea
out.

Sunroof system

Battery voltage is applied always to the terminal A(R/B) of the sunroof unit through the R/B wire, of which
terminal I(B) is grounded permanently through B wire. Also battery voltage is applied to the terminal B(R) of
sunroof switch throughthe R wire.
When the ignition switch is turned to ON position.
Battery voltage is applied from the "A/C SW (10A)" fuse to the terminal J(P) of the sunroof unit.
While pressing the "TILT UP" switch of the sunroof switch, battery voltage is applied to the terminal B(L/Y) of
the sunroof unit through the L/Y wire, allowing the sunroof unit to activate. When activated, the motor of
sunroof unit operates. The sunroof tilts up.
While pressing the "TILT DOWN" switch of the sunroof switch, battery voltage is applied to the terminal D(L) of
the sunroof unit through the Lwire, allowing the sunroof unit to activate. When activated, the motor of sunroof
unit operates. The sunroof tilts down.
While pressing the "SLIDE OPEN" switch of the sunroof switch, battery voltage is applied to the terminal F(Y/G)
of the sunroof unit through the Y/G wire, allowing the sunroof unit to activate. When activated, the motor of
sunroof unit operates. The sunroof opens. ON the other hand, the sunroof opens completelyt only by pressing
and releasing the "SLIDE OPEN"switch of the sunroof switch once.
While pressing the "SLIDE CLOSE" switch of the sunroof switch, battery voltage is applied to the terminal
H(L/G) of the sunroof unit through the L/G wire, allowing the sunroof unit to activate. When activated, the motor
of sunroof unit operates. The sunroof tilts closes.

Troubleshooting

Front room lamps do not operate

Preliminary check:
Check an open lamp filament before proceeding with diagnosis. If bulb is damaged, check connection of the bulb and replace
bulb. In addition, check "ROOM (10A)" fuse. If open, check for short to ground though the wire, replace fuse and check that all
system electrical connectors mated correctly.

Step

Inspection

Action

1

Check for voltage at terminal B(R) of front room
lamp.
Is battery voltage present?

Tes

Go to next step

No

Repair open or short in the wire "R" or replace.

2

Check for voltage between terminal B(R) and
A(B) of front room lamp.
Is battery voltage present?

Yes

Check for a poor connection at front room lamp
switch.
If OK, replace front room lamp bulb.

No

Check for a poor connection at ground. If OK,
repair open in the wire "B" or replace.

Sunroof does not operate.

Check "SUNROOF (15A)" and "A/C(10A)" fuse. If open, check for short to ground though the wires, replace fuse and check
that all system electrical connectors mated correctly.

Step

Inspection

Action

1

Connect for voltage at terminal B(R) of front room lamp.
Is battery voltage present?

Yes

Go to next step

No

Repair open or short in the wire "R" or
replace.

2

Disconnect sunroof switch connector M-01. Check for
continuity between terminals of sunroof switch by pressing
switch.
Is sunroof switch good?

Yes

Go to next step

No

Replace sunroof switch.

3

Disconnect sunroof unit connector M-02. Check for voltage
at terminal A(R/B) of sunroof unit connector M-02.
Is battery voltage present?

Yes

Go to next step

No

Repair open or short in the wire "R/B"
or replace.

4

Check for voltage between terminal A(R/B) and I(B) of
sunroof unit.
Is battery voltage present?

Yes

Go to next step

No

Check for a poor connection at ground.
If OK, repair open in the wire "B" or
replace.

5

Turn the ignition switch to "ON" postition.
Check for voltage at terminal J(P) of sunroof unit connector
M-02.
Is battery voltage present?

Yes

Go to next step

No

Repair open or short in the wire "P" or
replace.

6

Turn the ignition switch to OFF posoition.
Check for following wires between the sunroof switch and the
sunroof unit.
Are the below wires good?

Yes

Check for a poor connection at sunroof
unit. If OK, replace sunroof motor.

No

Repair open or short in the wires or
replace.

Circuit testing (Room lamp & sunroof switch)

1. Disconnect the room lamp & sunroof switch.

2. Check for continuity between terminal as indicated.

3. If not as specified, replace the power window main switch assembly.
