Clearance Lamps Inoperative

Repair the open or high resistance in the
backup lamp supply voltage circuit or the
ground circuit.
Did you complete the repair?

Replace the inoperative bulb. Refer to
Backup Lamp Bulb Replacement.

Adjust or replace the PNP switch if
equipped with an automatic transmission or
the backup lamp switch if equipped with a
manual transmission. Refer to Park/Neutral

Inspect for poor connections at the harness
connector of the clearance lamp. Refer to
Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs .

Repair the interior park lamps supply
voltage circuit of the clearance lamps for
the following:
An open
A high resistance
A short to ground
Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring
Repairs .

typical values and definitions:
The courtesy lamp switch
The dome lamp override switch
The driver door ajar switch
The passenger door ajar switch
Was a problem found?
Go to Step 4

Disconnect and test the switch of the
affected input circuit for proper continuity
in the open and closed positions. Refer to
Circuit Testing .
Does the switch operate properly?
Go to Step 5

Test the signal and ground circuits of the
affected input circuit for the following:
A short to ground
An open
A high resistance
