DIAGNOSTIC INFORMATION AND PROCEDURES

DIAGNOSTIC STARTING POINT - AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION SHIFT LOCK CONTROL

Begin the system diagnosis by reviewing the Automatic Transmission Shift Lock Control Description and
Operation
. Reviewing the description and operation information will help you determine the correct symptom
diagnostic procedure when a malfunction exists. Reviewing the description and operation information will also
help you determine if the condition described by the customer is normal operation.

Refer to Symptoms - Automatic Transmission Shift Lock Control in order to identify the correct procedure
for diagnosing the system and where the procedure is located.

SYMPTOMS - AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION SHIFT LOCK CONTROL

Visual/Physical Inspection

z

Inspect for aftermarket devices which could affect the operation of the automatic transmission shift lock
control system. Refer to Checking Aftermarket Accessories in Wiring Systems.

z

Inspect the easily accessible or visible system components for obvious damage or conditions which could
cause the symptom.

Intermittent

Faulty electrical connections or wiring may be the cause of intermittent conditions. Refer to Testing for
Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections
in Wiring Systems.
