OK: Go to next step

17. CHECK FOR DTC

a. Connect the connectors to the side airbag sensor LH.

b. Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery, and wait for at least 2 seconds.

c. Turn the ignition switch ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.

d. Clear the DTCs stored in the memory (see DTC CHECK/CLEAR ).

e. Turn the ignition switch OFF.

f. Turn the ignition switch ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.

g. Check for DTCs (see DTC CHECK/CLEAR ).

OK: DTC B1620 is output.

HINT:

Codes other than B1620 maybe output at this time, but they are not related to this check.

NG: REPLACE DOOR SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR LH (See SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR (for Regular
Cab)
)

OK: Go to next step

18. CHECK SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR LH

a. Interchange the side airbag sensor RH with LH and connect the connectors to them.

b. Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery, and wait for at least 2 seconds.

c. Turn the ignition switch ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.

d. Clear the DTCs stored in the memory (see DTC CHECK/CLEAR ).

e. Turn the ignition switch OFF.

f. Turn the ignition switch ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.

g. Check for DTCs (see DTC CHECK/CLEAR ).

h. Turn the ignition switch OFF.

i. Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.

j. Return the side airbag sensor RH and LH to their original positions and connect the connectors to

them.

C: REPLACE CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY (See CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR
ASSEMBLY (for Floor Shift Type)
)

D: REPLACE SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR LH (See SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR (for Regular Cab) )

19. CHECK FLOOR WIRE

a. Disconnect the floor wire connector from the door wire LH.

b. Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery, and wait for at least 2 seconds.

c. Turn the ignition switch ON.

d. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

e. Turn the ignition switch OFF.

f. Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.

g. Using a service wire, connect terminals 1 (BCL+) and 2 (BCL-) of connector B.

h. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

i. Disconnect the service wire from connector B.

j. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

DTC B1630/23, B1635/24: DRIVER SIDE REAR AIRBAG SENSOR CIRCUIT MALFUNCTION;
FRONT PASSENGER SIDE REAR AIRBAG SENSOR CIRCUIT MALFUNCTION

DESCRIPTION

The side airbag sensor LH and RH consists of the safing sensor, the diagnostic circuit, the lateral deceleration
sensor, etc.

If the center airbag sensor receives signals from the lateral deceleration sensor, it determines whether the SRS
should be activated.

DTC B1630/23 or B1635/24 is recorded when a malfunction is detected in the side airbag sensor LH or RH
circuit.

HINT:

"Rear Airbag Sensor" refers to the side airbag sensor.
