Toyota Tundra. Manual — part 131

1. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

2. Press and hold the tire pressure warning reset switch for 3 seconds or more so that the tire pressure

warning light blinks 3 times. SeeFig. 2.

3. Turn the ignition switch off.

4. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3. Turn the ignition switch ON and the Techstream ON. It may take 5

to 6 minutes for the "TIREPRESS" values to display on the hand-held tester screen

5. Enter the following menus: Chassis / Tire Pressure Monitor / Data List.

6. Confirm that the tire pressure data of all tires are displayed on the Techstream screen in order to check the

completion.

Register Transmitter ID

1. Set the tire pressure of all 4 tires to the specified value(s)

2. Turn the ignition switch off.

3. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

4. Turn the ignition switch to ON and the Techstream on.

5. Enter the following menus: Chassis / Tire Pressure Monitor / Utility / ID Registration.

6. Perform the following procedures displayed on the screen.

Confirmation Of Transmitter ID Registration

1. Enter the following menus: Chassis / Tire Pressure Monitor / Data List.

2. Read the "ID Tire Inflation Pressure" values.

3. Confirm that the data of tire pressure of all 4 tires are displayed on the screen.

DISMOUNTING/MOUNTING PROCEDURES

NOTE:

The system will need to be initialized when tires are rotated; tires are replaced
with tires of different pressures; tire pressure sensor and/or tire pressure
monitor ECU are replaced; or when a new vehicle is delivered. Set tire pressure
within the specified range before initializing.

NOTE:

When initializing the system, the present tire condition is stored as a standard.

NOTE:

The initialization process takes 5 to 6 minutes to be completed. The
initialization process can be terminated by connecting terminals 4 (TC)
and 13 (CG) of the DLC3.

NOTE:

It may take up to about 5 to 6 minutes to update the tire pressure data.

CAUTION: The tire should be dismounted from the wheel using the tire changer

manufacturer's instructions. Use the following information to avoid
damage during the dismounting/mounting procedures.

TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR

NOTE:

The system will need to be initialized when tires are rotated; tires are replaced
with tires of different pressures; tire pressure sensor and/or tire pressure
monitor ECU are replaced; or when a new vehicle is delivered. Set tire pressure
within the specified range before initializing. See INITIALIZING TIRE PRESSURE
MONITOR SYSTEM under RESET PROCEDURES. When a tire pressure sensor
and/or tire pressure monitor ECU are replaced, the sensor ID must be
memorized by the tire pressure monitor ECU prior to system initialization. See
TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR REGISTRATION under RESET PROCEDURES.

CAUTION: DO NOT try to install a tire pressure sensor in a steel wheel or aftermarket

wheel. Use only in original style factory wheels.

CAUTION: The use of tire sealants is strictly prohibited for vehicles equipped with the

Tire Pressure Monitor (TPM) system. Tire sealants can clog tire pressure
sensors.

NOTE:

If the tire pressure valve sub-assembly is going to be replaced, make a note of
the 7-digit number (transmitter ID) before installation, as it cannot be seen after
sensor is installed. See Fig. 3. Whenever a new sensor is installed, it will need
to be registered in the tire pressure monitor ECU.

Removal

1. When replacing a wheel or tire, tire pressure sensors must be set up in one of the following ways:

Remove the sensor from the old wheel and install it to the new wheel.

Keep the same wheel with tire pressure sensor, and replace only the tire.

Use a new wheel and sensor (the new sensor must be registered after installation).

2. Remove wheel. Remove the valve core and cap, and release air from the tire. See Fig. 4.

3. After ensuring that air is sufficiently released, remove the nut and washer that is used to fix the tire

pressure monitor valve sub-assembly and drop the sensor inside the tire.

4. After dropping the tire pressure monitor valve sub-assembly into the tire, disengage the bead using the

shoe of the tire remover. See Fig. 5.

5. Remove the bead on the upper side in the usual operation.

6. Take out the sensor from the tire, and remove the bead on the lower side as in usual operation.

7. Remove the inner grommet from the tire pressure monitor valve sub-assembly.

NOTE:

Keep the removed cap, valve core, nut and washer.

NOTE:

Be careful not to damage the tire pressure monitor valve sub-assembly
due to interference between the sensor and tire bead.

NOTE:

Check that no cracks or damage is identified on the grommet. If so,
replace the grommet together with the washer and nut.

NOTE:

Tire pressure sensor is powered by a lithium battery. When disposing
sensor, remove battery and dispose of properly.
