1. POWER WINDOW CONTROL SYSTEM DESCRIPTION

The power window control system controls the power window UP/DOWN function using the
power window regulator motors.

The main controls of this system are the power window regulator master switch, which is built into
the driver side door, and the power window regulator switches, which are built into the front
passenger side door and rear doors* 1, *2.

HINT:

*1: for Double Cab

*2: for CrewMax

Pressing either of the power window switches on the power window regulator switches or either of
the power window switches on the power window regulator master switch transmits an UP/DOWN
signal to the corresponding power window regulator motor.

Controls power window operation for all windows

When window lock switch is set to lock position, window operation
will only be possible with driver side power window switch.

Power Window Regulator
Switch

Located on front passenger side door and rear doors* 1, *2

Each power window regulator switch controls power window
operations for its respective window.

Power Window Regulator
Motor

Receives power window regulator switch signals and activates motor to
change window position.

Function that raises window while power window regulator switch or power
window regulator master switch is pulled up (window stops as soon as power
window regulator switch is released)

HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING

HINT:

Use these procedures to troubleshoot the power window control system.

*: Use the Techstream.

1. VEHICLE BROUGHT TO WORKSHOP

2. INSPECT BATTERY VOLTAGE

Standard voltage:

11 to 14 V

If the voltage is below 11V, recharge or replace the battery before proceeding.

3. CHECK COMMUNICATION FUNCTION OF CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM*

Manual DOWN
function

for Driver Seat:
Function that lowers window while power window regulator master switch is
pushed halfway down (window stops as soon as power window regulator master
switch is released)
for Other Seats:
Function that lowers window while power window regulator switch is pushed
down (window stops as soon as power window regulator switch is released)

AUTO DOWN
function (for Driver
Seat)

Function that enables window to be fully opened by one full push of power
window regulator master switch

Remote UP/DOWN
function

Function that allows power window regulator master switch to control manual
UP/DOWN function of front passenger side power window and rear power
windows*1, *2

Window lock
function

Function where front passenger side power window switch and rear power
window switch*1, *2 operations are disabled when window lock switch of
power window regulator master switch is pressed

Front passenger side power window switch and rear power window
switch*1, *2 can be operated when window lock switch is pressed again

Key-off operation
function

Function that makes it possible to operate all power windows for
approximately 43 +/-1.5 seconds after ignition switch is turned OFF when
front side door has not been opened

If 43 +/-1.5 seconds have passed or front side door is opened while AUTO
DOWN function is operating, window operation stops

HINT:

*1: for Double Cab

a. Use the Techstream to check if the CAN communication system is functioning normally.
