c. Remove the bolt, 2 union bolts, 4 gaskets and front fuel pipe.

d. Disconnect the 8 injector connectors.

e. Remove the 4 nuts holding the delivery pipes to the lower intake manifold.

f. Remove the 2 delivery pipes.

12. REMOVE FUEL INJECTOR ASSEMBLY

a. Remove the 8 injectors from the delivery pipe LH and RH.

b. Remove the O-ring, grommet and insulator from each injector.

INSPECTION

NOTE:

Be careful not to drop the injectors when removing the delivery
pipes.

NOTE:

Do not apply any load to the injector in the horizontal direction.

1. INSPECT INJECTION VOLUME AND LEAKAGE

a. Check the injector injection.

1. Assemble SST as shown in the illustration.

2. Discharge the fuel system pressure (see PRECAUTION ).

3. Disconnect the fuel inlet hose (fuel tube connector) from the No. 1 fuel pipe.

4. Remove the bolt and disconnect the fuel pressure regulator from the fuel delivery pipe.

5. Connect SST to the No. 1 fuel pipe.

CAUTION:

This test involves high-pressure fuel and electricity.

Take every precaution regarding safe handling of both the
fuel and the electrical parts.

Perform this test in a safe area, and avoid any sparks or
flame.

Do not smoke.

NOTE:

Do not disconnect the No. 2 fuel hose from the fuel pressure
regulator.

CAUTION: Always read the precautions before connecting the fuel

tube connector.

6. Connect SST (hose) to the fuel inlet of the pressure regulator with another SST (union), O-

ring and the 2 bolts.

Torque: 7.5 N*m (77 kgf*cm, 66 in.*lbf)

7. Connect the fuel return hose to the fuel outlet of the pressure regulator.

8. Install the O-ring to the injector.

9. Connect SSTs (adaptor and hose) to the injector, and hold the injector and union with another

SST (clamp).

10. Put the injector into a graduated cylinder.

11. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

12. Operate the fuel pump (see ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION ).

13. Connect SST (wire) to the injector and battery for 15 seconds, and measure the injection

volume with the graduated cylinder. Test each injector 2 or 3 times.

If the injection volume is not as specified, replace the injector.

CAUTION: Install a suitable vinyl hose onto the injector to prevent

gasoline from splashing out.
