INSTALL OIL COOLER ASSEMBLY

a

Apply a light coat of engine oil to 2 new O-rings

b

Install the 2 O-rings to the oil cooler

Install the oil cooler with the 5 nuts

Torque: 21 N*m (214 kgf*cm, 15 ft.*lbf)

INSTALL OIL FILTER BRACKET

a

Apply a light coat of engine oil to 2 new O-rings

b

Install the 2 O-rings to the timing chain cover

Install the oil filter bracket with the 2 nuts and 2 bolts

Torque: 35 N*m (357 kgf*cm, 26 ft.*lbf)

INSTALL NO. 1 OIL COOLER BRACKET

a

Connect the ground wire to the cylinder block

b

Install the oil cooler bracket with the 2 nuts

Torque: 21 N*m (214 kgf*cm, 15 ft.*lbf)

INSTALL NO. 2 WATER BY-PASS PIPE

a

Connect the 4 hoses

b

Install the water by-pass hose with the 3 bolts

Torque: 10 N*m (102 kgf*cm, 7 ft.*lbf)

CONNECT COOLER COMPRESSOR ASSEMBLY (See INSTALLATION )

INSTALL OIL PRESSURE SENDER GAUGE ASSEMBLY (See REMOVAL )

INSTALL OIL FILTER ELEMENT

a

Install the oil filter element (See REPLACEMENT )

INSTALL FAN AND GENERATOR V BELT

a

Install the fan and generator V belt (See INSTALLATION )

ADD ENGINE OIL (See REPLACEMENT )

ADD ENGINE COOLANT (See COOLANT )

CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

13

INSPECT FOR OIL LEAK (See REPLACEMENT )

CHECK ENGINE OIL LEVEL (See ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION )

15

INSPECT FOR COOLANT LEAK (See COOLING SYSTEM )

NOTE:

When disconnecting the cable some systems need to be initialized after
the cable is reconnected (See INITIALIZATION ).

LUBRICATION SYSTEM

ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

CHECK OIL QUALITY

a

Check the oil for deterioration, water contamination, discoloring or thinning

If the quality is visibly poor, replace the oil and filter (see REPLACEMENT )

CHECK ENGINE OIL LEVEL

a

Warm up the engine, then stop the engine and wait for 5 minutes

b

Check that the engine oil level is between the low level and full level marks on the dipstick

If low, check for leakage and add oil up to the full level mark

INSPECT OIL PRESSURE

a

Remove the oil pressure sender gauge (see REMOVAL )

b

Install an oil pressure gauge

c

Warm up the engine

d

Inspect the oil pressure

Standard oil pressure

OIL PRESSURE SPECIFICATION

NOTE:

Do not fill engine oil above the full level mark.
