If the result is not as specified, replace the fuel suction with pump and gauge tube assembly.

b. Inspect the operation of the fuel pump.

1. Connect the battery positive (+) lead to terminal 4 of the connector, and the negative (-) lead

to terminal 5. Check that the fuel pump operates.

If the result is not as specified, replace the fuel suction with pump and gauge tube assembly.

INSTALLATION

1. INSTALL FUEL SENDER GAUGE ASSEMBLY (See INSTALLATION )

2. INSTALL FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR ASSEMBLY (See INSTALLATION )

3. INSTALL FUEL SUCTION WITH PUMP AND GAUGE TUBE ASSEMBLY

a. Apply a light coat of gasoline or grease to a new gasket and install it to the fuel tank.

b. Align the protrusion of the fuel suction with pump and gauge tube assembly with the groove of the

fuel tank.

0.2 to 3.0 ohms

NOTE:



These tests must be performed within 10 seconds to
prevent the coil from burning out.



Keep the fuel pump as far away from the battery as
possible.



Always turn the voltage on and off on the battery side, not
the fuel pump side.

c. Install the fuel suction with pump and gauge tube assembly into the fuel tank.

d. Put the retainer on the fuel tank. While holding the fuel suction with pump and gauge tube

assembly, tighten the retainer one complete turn by hand.

e. Using SST, tighten the retainer until the mark on the retainer is within range A on the fuel tank, as

shown in the illustration.

HINT:

Fit the tips of SST onto the ribs of the retainer.

NOTE:

Be careful not to bend the arm of the fuel sender gauge.

4. INSTALL FUEL PRESSURE SWITCHING VALVE ASSEMBLY (See INSTALLATION )

5. INSTALL FUEL TANK ASSEMBLY

a. Install the fuel tank (See INSTALLATION ).

REMOVAL

1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

NOTE:



When disconnecting the cable some systems need to be initialized
after the cable is reconnected (See INITIALIZATION ).



After the ignition switch is turned off, the navigation system requires
approximately 90 seconds to record various types of memory and
settings. As a result, after turning the ignition switch off, wait 90
seconds or more before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-)
battery terminal.
