INSPECTION PROCEDURE
HINT:
Read freeze frame data using the Techstream. Freeze frame data records the engine condition when
malfunctions are detected. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can help determine if the vehicle was
moving or stationary, if the engine was warmed up or not, if the air-fuel ratio was lean or rich, and other data
from the time the malfunction occurred.
1. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (A/F SENSOR - ECM) (See INSPECTION
PROCEDURE )
NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK: Go to Next Step
2. REPLACE AIR FUEL RATIO SENSOR
a. Replace the air fuel ratio sensor (see REMOVAL ).
3. CHECK WHETHER DTC OUTPUT RECURS
a. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
b. Turn the ignition switch to ON and turn the Techstream ON.
c. Clear DTCs (see DTC CHECK/CLEAR ).
d. Start the engine.
e. Allow the engine to idle for 5 minutes or more.
f. Enter the following menus: Powertrain/Engine and ECT/Trouble Codes/Pending.
g. Read pending DTCs.

DTC SUMMARY
DTC CHART
HINT:
The vent valve is built into the canister pump module.
DESCRIPTION
The description can be found in the EVAP (Evaporative Emission) System (see DESCRIPTION ).
INSPECTION PROCEDURE
Refer to the EVAP SYSTEM .
MONITOR DESCRIPTION
5 hours* after the ignition switch is turned off, the leak detection pump creates negative pressure (vacuum) in
the EVAP system. The ECM monitors for leaks and actuator malfunctions based on the EVAP pressure.
HINT:
*: If the engine coolant temperature is not below 35°C (95°F) 5 hours after the ignition switch is turned off, the
monitor check starts 2 hours later. If it is still not below 35°C (95°F) 7 hours after the ignition switch is turned
off, the monitor check starts 2.5 hours later.
