A: REPLACE FRONT AIRBAG SENSOR LH (See FRONT AIRBAG SENSOR )

B: Go to step 12

C: USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK (See DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM )

11. CHECK INSTRUMENT PANEL WIRE

a. Disconnect the instrument panel wire connector from the engine room main wire.

b. Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery, and wait for at least 2 seconds.

c. Turn the ignition switch ON.

d. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard voltage

e. Turn the ignition switch OFF.

f. Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.

g. Using a service wire, connect terminal 30 (+SL) and 28 (-SL) of connector B.

Tester Connection

Ignition switch ON

AJ8-2 (+SL) - Body ground

NOTE:

Do not forcibly insert a service wire into the terminals of the
connector when connecting the wire.

h. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

i. Disconnect the service wire from connector B.

j. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

NG: REPLACE INSTRUMENT PANEL WIRE

OK: REPLACE ENGINE ROOM MAIN WIRE

12. REPLACE CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR

a. Turn the ignition switch OFF.

b. Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.

c. Replace the center airbag sensor.

1. for Column Shift Type (see CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY (for Column

Shift Type) ).

2. for Floor Shift Type (see CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY (for Floor Shift

Type) ).

HINT:

Perform the inspection using parts from a normal vehicle when possible.

d. Connect the connectors to the center airbag sensor.

e. Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery, and wait for at least 2 seconds.

f. Turn the ignition switch ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.

g. Clear the DTCs stored in the memory (see DTC CHECK/CLEAR ).

h. Turn the ignition switch OFF.

i. Turn the ignition switch ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.

j. Check for DTCs (see DTC CHECK/CLEAR ).

NG: REPLACE FRONT AIRBAG SENSOR RH AND LH (See FRONT AIRBAG SENSOR )

OK: END

13. CHECK CONNECTION OF CONNECTORS

a. Turn the ignition switch OFF.

b. Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.

c. Check that the connectors are properly connected to the center airbag sensor and the front airbag

sensor RH and LH.

OK: The connectors are properly connected.

NG: CONNECT CONNECTORS PROPERLY

OK: Go to next step

14. CHECK CONNECTORS

a. Disconnect the connectors from the center airbag sensor and front airbag sensor RH and LH.

b. Check that the connectors (on the center airbag sensor side and front airbag sensor RH and LH

side) are not damaged.

OK: The connectors are not deformed or damaged.

NG: REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR

OK: Go to next step

15. CHECK FRONT AIRBAG SENSOR RH CIRCUIT

a. Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery, and wait for at least 2 seconds.

b. Turn the ignition switch ON.

c. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard voltage

d. Turn the ignition switch OFF.

e. Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.

f. Using a service wire, connect terminals 29 (+SR) and 27 (-SR) of connector B.

g. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

h. Disconnect the service wire from connector B.

i. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
