DTC B1815/54, B1816/54, B1817/54, B1818/54: SHORT IN FRONT PASSENGER SIDE SQUIB 2ND
STEP CIRCUIT; OPEN IN FRONT PASSENGER SIDE SQUIB 2ND STEP CIRCUIT; SHORT TO
GND IN FRONT PASSENGER SIDE SQUIB 2ND STEP CIRCUIT; SHORT TO B+ IN FRONT
PASSENGER SIDE SQUIB 2ND STEP CIRCUIT

DESCRIPTION

The front passenger side squib 2nd step circuit consists of the center airbag sensor and the front passenger
airbag.

The circuit instructs the SRS to deploy when the deployment conditions are met.

These DTCs are recorded when a malfunction is detected in the front passenger side squib 2nd step circuit.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

HINT:

Perform the simulation method by selecting "check mode" (signal check) with the Techstream (see
CHECK MODE PROCEDURE ).

After selecting "check mode" (signal check), perform the simulation method by wiggling each connector
of the airbag system or driving the vehicle on various types of roads (see DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM ).

1. CHECK FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG (FRONT PASSENGER SIDE SQUIB 2ND STEP)

a. Turn the ignition switch OFF.

NOTE:

When disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal while
performing repairs, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is
reconnected (see INITIALIZATION ).

After the ignition switch is turned OFF, the navigation system requires
approximately 90 seconds to record various types of memory and
settings. As a result, after turning the ignition switch OFF, wait 90 seconds
or more before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery
terminal.
