DTC B1690/15, B1695/16: DRIVER SIDE DOOR SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR MALFUNCTION;
PASSENGER SIDE DOOR SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR MALFUNCTION

DESCRIPTION

The door side airbag sensor LH or RH consists of the safing sensor, the diagnostic circuit, the lateral
deceleration sensor, etc.

If the center airbag sensor receives signals from the lateral deceleration sensor, it determines whether the SRS
should be activated.

DTC B1690/15 or B1695/16 is recorded when a malfunction is detected in the door side airbag sensor LH or
RH circuit.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

1. CHECK FOR DTC

a. Turn the ignition switch ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.

b. Clear the DTCs stored in the memory (see DTC CHECK/CLEAR ).

c. Turn the ignition switch OFF.

d. Turn the ignition switch ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.

e. Check for DTCs (see DTC CHECK/CLEAR ).

NOTE:



When disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal while
performing repairs, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is
reconnected (see INITIALIZATION ).



After the ignition switch is turned OFF, the navigation system requires
approximately 90 seconds to record various types of memory and
settings. As a result, after turning the ignition switch OFF, wait 90 seconds
or more before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery
terminal.

HINT:

Codes other than past DTC B1690 and B1695 maybe output at this time, but they are not related to
this check.

A: USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK (See DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM )

B: Go to step 10

C: Go to next step

2. CHECK CONNECTION OF CONNECTORS

a. Turn the ignition switch OFF.

b. Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.

c. Check that the connectors are properly connected to the center airbag sensor, the side airbag sensor

RH and door side airbag sensor RH.

OK: The connectors are properly connected.

NG: CONNECT CONNECTORS PROPERLY

OK: Go to next step

3. CHECK CONNECTORS

a. Disconnect the connectors from the center airbag sensor and side airbag sensor RH.

b. Check that the connectors (on the center airbag sensor side, the side airbag sensor RH side and door

side airbag sensor RH side) are not damaged.

OK: The connectors are not deformed or damaged.

NG: REPLACE NO. 2 FLOOR WIRE

OK: Go to next step

4. CHECK DOOR SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR RH CIRCUIT

a. Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery, and wait for at least 2 seconds.

b. Turn the ignition switch ON.
