b. Check the throttle position sensor.

1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

2. Turn the ignition switch ON.

3. Push the Techstream main switch ON.

4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain/Engine and ECT/Data List/All Data/Throttle Sensor

Position.

5. Depress the accelerator pedal. When the throttle valve is fully opened, check that the value of

the "THROTTLE POS (Throttle Sensor Position)" is within the specification.

Standard throttle valve opening percentage: 60% or more

HINT:

When checking the standard throttle valve opening percentage, the shift lever should be in
the N position.

If the percentage is less than 60%, replace the throttle body.

REMOVAL

1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

2. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT . (See REPLACEMENT ).

3. REMOVE THROTTLE BODY COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY

NOTE:

Some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected.
(See INITIALIZATION ).

After the ignition switch is turned OFF, the navigation system
requires approximately 90 seconds to record various types of
memory and settings. As a result, after turning the ignition switch
OFF, wait 90 seconds or more before disconnecting the cable from
the negative (-) battery terminal.

a. Remove the 2 nuts and throttle body cover.

4. REMOVE AIR CLEANER HOSE ASSEMBLY . (See REMOVAL ).

5. REMOVE THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY

a. Disconnect the 2 water by-pass hoses.

b. Disconnect the throttle position sensor and control motor connector.

c. Remove the 3 bolts, nut, throttle body and gasket.

INSPECTION

1. INSPECT THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY

a. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard resistance

STANDARD RESISTANCE SPECIFICATION

If the result is not as specified, replace the throttle body assembly.

INSTALLATION

1. INSTALL THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY

a. Install a new gasket and the throttle body with the 3 bolts and nut.

Torque: 14 N*m (143 kgf*cm, 10 ft.*lbf)

b. Connect the throttle position sensor and control motor connector.

c. Connect the 2 water by-pass hoses.

2. INSTALL AIR CLEANER HOSE ASSEMBLY (See INSTALLATION )

3. ADD ENGINE COOLANT . (See REPLACEMENT ).

Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition

1 (M-) - 2 (M+)

20°C (68°F)

0.3 to 100 ohms

4. INSPECT FOR ENGINE COOLANT LEAK . (See ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION ).

5. INSTALL THROTTLE BODY COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY

a. Install the throttle body cover sub-assembly with the 2 nuts.

Torque: 7.5 N*m (76 kgf*cm, 66 in.*lbf)

6. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
