3. INSTALL FRONT CRANKSHAFT OIL SEAL

a. Using SST and a hammer, tap in a new oil seal until its surface is flush with the oil pump body

edge.

SST 09316-60011 (09316-00011)

b. Apply MP grease to the oil seal lip.

INSTALLATION

1. INSTALL OIL PUMP ASSEMBLY

a. Apply a light coat of engine oil to a new O-ring and install it to the cylinder block.

b. Apply seal packing to the oil pump as shown in the illustration.

Seal packing:

NOTE:



Keep the lip free from foreign matter.



Do not tap oil seal at an angle.

Toyota Genuine Seal Packing Black, Three Bond 1207B or equivalent

Standard seal diameter:

2.0 to 3.0 mm (0.0787 to 0.118 in.)

c. Align the oil pump's drive rotor spline and the crankshaft as shown in the illustration. Install the

spline and oil pump to the crankshaft.

d. Install the oil pump with the 7 standard bolts and 6 mm hexagon wrench bolt. Uniformly tighten the

bolts in several steps.

Torque:

NOTE:



Install the oil pump within 3 minutes and tighten the bolts within
15 minutes after applying seal packing.



Be careful not to drop any oil on the contact surfaces of the oil
pump and cylinder block.



Do not expose the seal to engine oil for at least an hour after
installing it.

2. INSTALL OIL STRAINER SUB-ASSEMBLY

a. Install a new gasket and the oil strainer with the 2 bolts and 2 nuts.

Torque: 8.0 N*m (82 kgf*cm, 71 in.*lbf)

3. INSTALL NO. 1 OIL PAN SUB-ASSEMBLY

a. Remove any old packing (FIPG).

1. Using a gasket scraper, remove all the old packing (FIPG) from the gasket surfaces and

sealing groove. Thoroughly clean all components.

2. Using a non-residue solvent, clean both sealing surfaces.

b. Apply seal packing to the No. 1 oil pan as shown in the illustration.

Seal packing:

Toyota Genuine Seal Packing Black, Three Bond 1207B or equivalent

Standard seal diameter:

3.0 to 5.0 mm (0.118 to 0.197 in.)

c. Temporarily install the No. 1 oil pan with the 19 bolts, stud bolt and 2 nuts.

NOTE:



Install the oil pan within 3 minutes and tighten the bolts within
15 minutes after applying seal packing.



Be careful not to drop any oil on the contact surfaces of the oil
pan and cylinder block.



Do not expose the seal to engine oil for at least an hour after
installing it.
