INSPECTION PROCEDURE

HINT:

Read freeze frame data using the Techstream. Freeze frame data records the engine conditions when a
malfunction is detected. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can help determine if the vehicle was running
or stopped, if the engine was warmed up or not, if the air-fuel ratio was lean or rich, and other data from the
time the malfunction occurred.

1. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (PURGE VSV)

a. Disconnect the vacuum hose from the purge VSV.

b. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

c. Start the engine and turn the Techstream ON.

d. Enter the following menus: Powertrain/Engine and ECT/Active Test/Activate the VSV for Evap

Control.

e. Check if air is sucked into the port when operating the purge VSV using the Techstream.

OK

ACTIVE TEST REFERENCE

NG : Go to step 2

OK : CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS (See CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT
PROBLEMS
)

2. INSPECT PURGE VSV

a. Inspect the purge VSV. (See INSPECTION ).

NG : REPLACE PURGE VSV . (See PURGE VALVE ).

OK : Go To Next Step

3. INSPECT PURGE VSV (POWER SOURCE VOLTAGE)

a. Disconnect the purge VSV connector.

b. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

c. Measure the voltage according to the value (s) in the table below.

OK : Go To Next Step

4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (PURGE VSV - ECM)

a. Disconnect the purge VSV connector.

b. Disconnect the ECM connector.

c. Measure the resistance according to the value (s) in the table below.

NG : REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

OK : REPLACE ECM (See REMOVAL )

5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (PURGE VSV - EFI NO. 2 FUSE)

a. Disconnect the purge VSV connector.

b. Remove the EFI No. 2 fuse from the engine room relay block.

c. Measure the resistance according to the value (s) in the table below.
