ADJUSTMENT
HINT:
Before adjusting the door position for vehicles equipped with side airbags and curtain shield airbags, be
sure to disconnect the battery. After adjustment, inspect the SRS warning light and check for DTC
.
Use the same procedures for the RH side and LH side.
The procedures listed below are for the LH side.
Centering bolts are used to mount the door hinge to the vehicle body and door. The door cannot be
adjusted with the centering bolts on. Substitute the centering bolts with standard bolts (w/ washers) when
making adjustments.
1. ADJUST REAR DOOR
(a) Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent
airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.
NOTICE:
Some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected
.

(c) Tighten the body's hinge bolts after the adjustment.
Torque:
29 N·m {296 kgf·cm, 21ft·lbf}
(d) Loosen the door's hinge bolts and adjust the door's position.
(e) Tighten the door's hinge bolts after the adjustment.
Torque:
29 N·m {296 kgf·cm, 21ft·lbf}
(f) Using a screwdriver, detach the 4 claws and remove the cover.
HINT:
Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
(g) Adjust the striker position by slightly loosening the striker
mounting screws with a T40 "TORX" socket and hitting the
striker with a plastic-faced hammer.
(h) Using a T40 "TORX" socket, tighten the striker mounting screws after the adjustment.
Torque:
23 N·m {235 kgf·cm, 17ft·lbf}
(i) Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal.
NOTICE:
Some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected
.
(j) Inspect the SRS warning light
.

REASSEMBLY
HINT:

A bolt without a torque specification is shown in the standard bolt chart
.
1. INSTALL REAR DOOR WEATHERSTRIP LH
(a) Attach the 41 clips to install the weatherstrip.
HINT:
If clips are damaged during installation, replace them.
(b) Attach the 2 clips.
2. INSTALL REAR DOOR CHECK ASSEMBLY LH
ENGINE HOOD / DOOR: REAR DOOR (for CrewMax): REASSEMBL...
Torque:
8.5 N·m {87 kgf·cm, 75in·lbf}
Toyota Genuine Adhesive 1324, Three Bond 1324 or equivalent
(d) Install the bolt.
Torque:
29 N·m {296 kgf·cm, 21ft·lbf}
3. INSTALL REAR NO. 2 DOOR WEATHERSTRIP LH
(a) Attach the 10 clips to install the weatherstrip.
4. INSTALL REAR DOOR LOCK OPEN ROD LH
5. INSTALL REAR DOOR OUTSIDE HANDLE FRAME SUB-ASSEMBLY LH
(a) Slide the outside handle frame to install it.
NOTICE:
If the release plate is not pulled and held when installing the
outside handle, it will strike against the outside handle and
become damaged.
(b) Using a T30 "TORX" wrench, tighten the screw.
Torque:
4.0 N·m {41 kgf·cm, 35in·lbf}
(c) Install the front and rear outside handle pads.
