(b) Using SST, tighten the air fuel ratio sensor.
SST: 09224-00010
Torque:
without SST -
44 N·m {449 kgf·cm, 32ft·lbf}
with SST -
40 N·m {408 kgf·cm, 30ft·lbf}

Make sure SST and the wrench are connected in a straight
line.
3. INSTALL FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY
(a) Install a new gasket and the front exhaust pipe assembly to the exhaust manifold RH with 3 new nuts.
Torque:
54 N·m {554 kgf·cm, 40ft·lbf}
(b) Install a new gasket and the front exhaust pipe assembly to the center exhaust pipe with the 2 bolts.
Torque:
48 N·m {489 kgf·cm, 35ft·lbf}
(c) Connect the air fuel ratio sensor connector.
(d) Attach the 2 clamps and connect the heated oxygen sensor connector.
4. INSTALL FRONT NO. 2 EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY
(a) Connect the front No. 2 exhaust pipe assembly to the exhaust pipe support.
(b) Install a new gasket and the front No. 2 exhaust pipe assembly to the exhaust manifold LH with 3 new
nuts.
Torque:
54 N·m {554 kgf·cm, 40ft·lbf}
(c) Install a new gasket and the front No. 2 exhaust pipe assembly to the center exhaust pipe assembly
with the 2 bolts.
Torque:
48 N·m {489 kgf·cm, 35ft·lbf}
(d) Connect the air fuel ratio sensor connector.
(e) Connect the heated oxygen sensor connector.
5. INSTALL FRONT PROPELLER SHAFT ASSEMBLY
6. INSTALL PROPELLER SHAFT HEAT INSULATOR
7. INSPECT FOR EXHAUST GAS LEAK

1. REMOVE AIR PUMP HEATER RELAY (AI HTR)
(a) Remove the air pump heater relay from the engine room relay block.
2. INSPECT AIR PUMP HEATER RELAY (AI HTR)
(a) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table
below.
Standard Resistance:

When no battery voltage is
applied to terminals 1 and 2
10 kΩ or higher
When battery voltage is
applied to terminals 1 and 2
Below 1 Ω
If the result is not as specified, replace the relay.

ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION
1. INSPECT CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE ASSEMBLY
(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
(b) Start the engine and turn the Techstream on.
(c) Warm up the engine.
(d) Enter the following menus:
Select: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Active Test / Control the VVT Linear (Bank 1) or Control the VVT
Linear (Bank 2) or Control the VVT System (Bank 1) or Control the VVT System (Bank 2) or Control the
VVT Exhaust Linear (Bank 1) or Control the VVT Exhaust Linear (Bank 2).
(e) Check the engine speed while operating the Oil Control Valve (OCV) using the Techstream.
OK:
TECHSTREAM OPERATION
SPECIFIED CONDITION
OCV OFF
Normal engine speed
OCV ON
Soon after OCV switched from OFF to ON, engine idles roughly or stalls
If the result is not as specified, check the oil control valve, wiring and camshaft timing gear.
