DESCRIPTION
The ECM detects the signal from the transfer indicator switch.
This DTC indicates that the transfer indicator switch (L4) remains on.

Transfer indicator switch (L4) remains on while the vehicle is being
driven under the following conditions for 1.8 sec. or more (1-trip
detection logic):
(a) Output shaft speed is between 1000 and 3000 rpm.
(b) Transfer position switch is in 2WD or 4H.

MONITOR DESCRIPTION
The ECM monitors the transfer-case transfer indicator switch to determine when the transfer-case 4L gears are
engaged. If the transfer-case 4L gears remain engaged under the following conditions, the ECM will conclude that
The transfer-case shifter is in the "2WD" or "4H" position.
The transfer-case output shaft speed is between 1000 and 3000 rpm.
The specified time period has elapsed.

PROCEDURE

CHECK TRANSFER INDICATOR SWITCH
(a) Disconnect the D70 transfer indicator switch connector.
(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance:

(b) Disconnect the A26 4 wheel drive control ECU connector.
(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

(b) Disconnect the A26 4 wheel drive control ECU connector.
(c) Disconnect the A24 ECM connector.
(d) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
