GO TO STEP 11
10.
ADD FUEL
(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
(b) Turn the ignition switch to ON.
(c) Turn the Techstream on.
(d) Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Utility / Learning Value Reset.
(e) Confirm the following conditions as instructed on the screen.
(1) Ignition switch: ON
(2) Engine: stopped
(3) Battery voltage: 9 V or higher
(f) After confirming, select "Next" and initialize the learned value.
HINT:
If a message indicating learned value initialization failure is displayed on the screen, confirm the
execution conditions, and perform learned value initialization again.
(g) Turn the ignition switch off and wait for at least 30 seconds.
(i) Turn the ignition switch to ON.
(j) Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Data List / Alcohol Density learning.
(k) Make sure that the Data List item "Alcohol Density Learning" is "Incmpl".

If "Fuel Density Learning Value Reset" is performed after warming the engine coolant up to
approximately 50°C (122°F), the engine becomes easier to start afterward.
(e) Confirm the following conditions as instructed on the screen.
(1) Ignition switch: ON
(2) Engine: stopped
(3) Battery voltage: 9 V or higher
(f) Press "Next".
(g) When "Next" is pressed, initialization is performed automatically.
(h) Turn the ignition switch off.
Add fuel immediately after resetting. (Do not start the engine before adding fuel.)
HINT:
(k) Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Data List / Alcohol Density learning.
(l) Make sure that the Data List item "Alcohol Density Learning" is "Incmpl".

CONFIRM LEARNED VALUE
HINT:
(a) Drive the vehicle in accordance with the driving pattern described in Confirmation Driving
Pattern.
(b) Make sure that the Data List item "Alcohol Density Learning" is "Compl".
(c) Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Data List / Alcohol Density Estimate,
Short FT and Long FT.
(d) Check the data list values, and then write them down.
(e) Confirm the alcohol concentration in the fuel
.
(f) Write down the alcohol concentration in the fuel.
(g) Use the following formula to calculate the difference between the current learned value and
the actual alcohol concentration in the fuel.

DTC
P0500
Vehicle Speed Sensor "A"
DESCRIPTION
The speed sensor detects the wheel speed and sends the appropriate signals to the skid control ECU. The skid
control ECU converts these wheel speed signals into a 4-pulse signal and outputs it to the ECM via the
NO.
DTC DETECTION CONDITION
TROUBLE AREA
P0500
While vehicle being driven, no vehicle speed sensor signal
transmitted to ECM
(2 trip detection logic)
Open or short in speed signal
circuit
Wheel speed sensor
Combination meter
ECM
Skid control ECU
MONITOR DESCRIPTION
The ECM assumes that the vehicle is being driven when the indicated vehicle speed is more than 9 km/h (5.6
mph). If there is no speed signal from the combination meter despite these conditions being met, the ECM
interprets this as a malfunction in the speed signal circuit. The ECM then illuminates the MIL and stores the
DTC.
