Parking Brake and Actuation - Electronic
Parking Brake (EPB) Release Using the
Vehicle Systems

General Procedures
Service mode activation.
Service mode deactivation.

2. Release the electronic parking brake.
3.
1. Turn the ignition switch to position II.
2. Fully depress and hold down the
accelerator pedal.
3. Press and hold down the parking brake
switch.
4. Turn the ignition switch to position 0.
5. Turn the ignition switch to position II
within five seconds of completing sub-step
4.
6. Wait until the EPB has fully reloaded.
7. Turn the ignition switch to position 0.
8. Release the accelerator pedal.
9. Release the parking brake switch.

3. Lift up and hold up the parking brake
switch.
4. Turn the ignition switch to position 0.
5. Turn the ignition switch to position II
within five seconds of completing sub-step

6. Wait until the EPB has fully applied.
7. Turn the ignition switch to position 0.
8. Release the accelerator pedal.
9. Release the parking brake switch.

Vehicle Has No Electrical Power

General Procedures

3. To release the brake, turn the spindle clockwise
using a T40 socket spanner or a 6mm Allen key.
4. Torque: 9 Nm

Brake Cable Adjustment

General Procedures
1.
1. Fully apply the parking brake.
2. Fully release the parking brake control.
2. Raise and support the vehicle.
Refer to:
Lifting
(100-02 Jacking and Lifting,
Description and Operation).
3. Support the muffler and tailpipe assembly.
4. Torque: 5 Nm
5. Loosen the parking brake cable adjustment nut
to the end of the parking brake cable thread.
6.
NOTE: This step requires the aid of another
technician.
1. Insert a 1.2 mm feeler gauge between the
parking brake lever and the brake caliper
abutment, on both sides.
2. Tighten the parking brake cable
adjustment nut until movement is
observed on one of the parking brake
levers.
3. Remove the feeler gauges.
4. Rotate the rear wheels and tires and check
for brake drag. If brake drag is felt, loosen
the parking brake cable adjustment nut to
the end of the parking brake cable thread,
clean the parking brake cables and repeat
the parking brake cable adjustment
procedure.
5. If brake drag is still felt after, repeat the
adjustment using a 1.0 mm feeler gauge.
If brake drag is still felt, loosen the parking
brake adjustment nut and reduce the
feeler gauge measurement by 0.2 mm
each time, until no brake drag can be felt
at the rear wheels and tires.
