PINPOINT TEST A : DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR MODULE NOT COMMUNICATING
WITH THE FORD APPROVED DIAGNOSTIC TOOL
TEST CONDITIONS
DETAILS/RESULTS/ACTIONS
A1: CHECK COMMUNICATIONS WITH THE GENERIC ELECTRONIC MODULE (GEM)
Ignition switch in position 0.
1
Connect the diagnostic tool.
2
Select the generic electronic module (GEM) with
the Ford approved diagnostic tool.
3
Is it possible to establish communications with the
GEM?
Yes
GO to A2
.
No
GO to Pinpoint Test
AJ.
A2: CHECK FUSE FA1
Ignition switch in position 0.
1
CHECK Fuse FA1 (RJB).
2
Is the fuse OK?
Yes
GO to A3
.
No
RENEW fuse FA1 (25 A). CHECK the operation of
the system. If the fuse blows again, LOCATE and
REPAIR the short using the Wiring Diagrams.
A3: CHECK THE VOLTAGE AT FUSE FA1
Connect Fuse FA1 (RJB).
1
Measure the voltage between fuse FA1 (25 A) and
ground.
2
Does the meter display battery voltage?
Yes
GO to A4
.
No
REPAIR the voltage supply to fuse FA1 with the aid
of the wiring diagrams. CHECK the operation of the
system.
A4: CHECK THE VOLTAGE AT THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR MODULE
Disconnect Connector C5PL01-A from the driver's
side door module.
1
Measure the voltage between the driver's side door
module, connector C5PL01-A, pin 2, circuit SBR01A
(RD), wiring harness side and ground.
2
Does the meter display battery voltage?
Yes
GO to A6
.
No
GO to A5
.
A5: CHECK THE CIRCUIT BETWEEN THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR MODULE AND THE RJB
FOR OPEN CIRCUIT
Disconnect Connector C4BR02-A from the RJB.
1
Measure the resistance between the driver's side
door module, connector C5PL01-A, pin 2, circuit
SBR01A (RD), wiring harness side and the RJB,
connector C4BR02-A, pin 102, circuit SBR01B (RD),
wiring harness side.
2
Is a resistance of less than 2 Ohms registered?
Yes
CHECK and RENEW the RJB if necessary. CHECK
the operation of the system.
No
LOCATE and REPAIR the break in the circuit
between the driver's side door module and the RJB
with the aid of the Wiring Diagrams. CHECK the
operation of the system.
A6: CHECK THE GROUND CONNECTION OF THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR MODULE
Measure the resistance between the driver's side
door module, connector C5PL01-A, pin 13, circuit
GD134H (BK/VT), wiring harness side and ground.
1
Is a resistance of less than 2 Ohms registered?
Yes
GO to A7
.
No
LOCATE and REPAIR the break in the circuit
between the driver's side door module and soldered
connection SP386 with the aid of the Wiring
Diagrams. CHECK the operation of the system.
A7: CHECK FOR OPEN CIRCUIT BETWEEN THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR MODULE AND
THE DATA LINK CONNECTOR (DLC)
CAUTION: The following measurement must only be performed using the Ford
approved diagnostic tool digital multimeter. Failure to observe this instruction can lead to
damage.
Disconnect Connector C5PL01-B from the driver's
