Description and Operation

The fuel injectors and fuel rail are different for petrol vehicles and for vehicles with ethanol
E85 and must not be mixed up.

The theoretical air-fuel ratio for vehicles operated with ethanol is 9.7 kg air / kg fuel. For
petrol vehicles, the ratio is 14.5:1 This results in a 30% higher fuel requirement in order to
achieve Lambda = 1.

Fuel injectors

The increased fuel consumption is compensated for through fuel injectors with a greater
throughput.

Fuel rail

The interior of the fuel rail is nickel-coated.
