Disconnect EVAP canister purge outlet tube at fuel vapor valve tube assembly that runs from EVAP
purge valve to fuel tank. Pressurize system to 14 in. H2O (3.48 kPa). If pressure drops immediately, go to
step 9 . If pressure does not drop immediately, go to next step.

8. Testing Evaporative Emissions Test Port


Disconnect evaporative emissions test port from EVAP canister purge outlet tube. Pressurize system to 14
in. H2O (3.48 kPa). If pressure drops immediately, replace EVAP canister purge outlet tube. Perform
evaporative emissions system leak test. See EVAPORATIVE EMISSIONS SYSTEM LEAK TEST .
If system passes, perform DRIVE CYCLES in SELF-DIAGNOSTICS - CNG, FLEX-FUEL &
GASOLINE article. Ensure PENDING CODE CHECK & EVAP MONITOR "BYPASS" CHECK is
performed. If pressure does not drop immediately, replace evaporative emissions test port. Perform
evaporative emissions system leak test. See EVAPORATIVE EMISSIONS SYSTEM LEAK TEST .
If system passes, perform DRIVE CYCLES in SELF-DIAGNOSTICS - CNG, FLEX-FUEL &
GASOLINE article. Ensure PENDING CODE CHECK & EVAP MONITOR "BYPASS" CHECK is
performed.

9. Testing Fuel Vapor Valve Tube Assembly


Disconnect EVAP canister purge outlet tube at fuel vapor valve tube assembly. Connect EVAP tester to
fuel filler tube. Pressurize system to 14 in. H2O (3.48 kPa). If pressure drops immediately, reconnect all
components. Perform evaporative emissions system leak test. See EVAPORATIVE EMISSIONS
SYSTEM LEAK TEST
. If system passes, perform DRIVE CYCLES in SELF-DIAGNOSTICS -
CNG, FLEX-FUEL & GASOLINE article. Ensure PENDING CODE CHECK & EVAP MONITOR
"BYPASS" CHECK is performed. If pressure does not drop immediately, replace fuel vapor valve tube
assembly. Perform evaporative emissions system leak test. See EVAPORATIVE EMISSIONS
SYSTEM LEAK TEST
. If system passes, perform DRIVE CYCLES in SELF-DIAGNOSTICS -
CNG, FLEX-FUEL & GASOLINE article. Ensure PENDING CODE CHECK & EVAP MONITOR
"BYPASS" CHECK is performed.

Focus & ZX2

1. Testing EVAP Canister & Canister Vent Solenoid Flow - Connect Evaporative Emissions System

Leak Tester (134-00056) to test port. Pressurize system to 14 in. H2O (3.48 kPa). If pressure drops
immediately, EVAP canister and vent solenoid are not blocked, go to step 5 . If pressure does not drop
immediately, go to next step.

2. Testing Canister Vent Solenoid Hose Assembly


Disconnect canister vent solenoid hose assembly. Pressurize system to 14 in. H2O (3.48 kPa). If pressure
drops immediately, replace canister vent solenoid hose assembly. Perform evaporative emissions system
leak test. See EVAPORATIVE EMISSIONS SYSTEM LEAK TEST . If system passes, perform
DRIVE CYCLES in SELF-DIAGNOSTICS - CNG, FLEX-FUEL & GASOLINE article. Ensure
PENDING CODE CHECK & EVAP MONITOR "BYPASS" CHECK is performed. If pressure does not
drop immediately, go to next step.

3. Testing Canister Vent Solenoid For Blockage


Remove canister vent solenoid. Canister vent solenoid is under rear of vehicle near EVAP canister.
Pressurize system to 14 in. H2O (3.48 kPa). If pressure drops immediately, replace canister vent solenoid.
Perform evaporative emissions system leak test. See EVAPORATIVE EMISSIONS SYSTEM LEAK
TEST
. If system passes, perform DRIVE CYCLES in SELF-DIAGNOSTICS - CNG, FLEX-FUEL &
GASOLINE article. Ensure PENDING CODE CHECK & EVAP MONITOR "BYPASS" CHECK is
performed. If pressure does not drop immediately, go to next step.

4. Testing EVAP Canister


Disconnect EVAP canister tube at canister. Pressurize system to 14 in. H2O (3.48 kPa). If pressure drops
immediately, replace EVAP canister. Perform evaporative emissions system leak test. See
EVAPORATIVE EMISSIONS SYSTEM LEAK TEST . If system passes, perform DRIVE CYCLES
in SELF-DIAGNOSTICS - CNG, FLEX-FUEL & GASOLINE article. Ensure PENDING CODE
CHECK & EVAP MONITOR "BYPASS" CHECK is performed. If pressure does not drop immediately,
replace EVAP canister outlet tube. Perform evaporative emissions system leak test. See
EVAPORATIVE EMISSIONS SYSTEM LEAK TEST . If system passes, perform DRIVE CYCLES
in SELF-DIAGNOSTICS - CNG, FLEX-FUEL & GASOLINE article. Ensure PENDING CODE
CHECK & EVAP MONITOR "BYPASS" CHECK is performed.

5. Testing Fuel Vapor Control Valve Tube Assembly (With ORVR Only)


Disconnect fuel vapor valve from fuel vapor control valve tube. Plug hose on fuel vapor valve assembly
and at fuel vapor control valve tube assembly. Move EVAP tester to fuel filler pipe. Pressurize system to
14 in. H2O (3.48 kPa). If pressure drops immediately, perform evaporative emissions system leak test.
See EVAPORATIVE EMISSIONS SYSTEM LEAK TEST . If system passes, perform DRIVE
CYCLES
in SELF-DIAGNOSTICS - CNG, FLEX-FUEL & GASOLINE article. Ensure PENDING
CODE CHECK & EVAP MONITOR "BYPASS" CHECK is performed and go to next step. If pressure
does not drop immediately, replace fuel vapor control valve tube assembly. Perform evaporative
emissions system leak test. See EVAPORATIVE EMISSIONS SYSTEM LEAK TEST . If system
passes, perform DRIVE CYCLES in SELF-DIAGNOSTICS - CNG, FLEX-FUEL & GASOLINE
article. Ensure PENDING CODE CHECK & EVAP MONITOR "BYPASS" CHECK is performed.

6. Testing Fuel Vapor Valve Assembly


Disconnect fuel vapor valve tube assembly at EVAP canister tube "T" fitting connector and at fuel vapor
valve. Plug both open ports at tube assembly. Pressurize system to 14 in. H2O (3.48 kPa). If pressure
drops immediately, reconnect all components. Perform evaporative emissions system leak test. See
EVAPORATIVE EMISSIONS SYSTEM LEAK TEST . If system passes, perform DRIVE CYCLES
in SELF-DIAGNOSTICS - CNG, FLEX-FUEL & GASOLINE article. Ensure PENDING CODE
CHECK & EVAP MONITOR "BYPASS" CHECK is performed. If pressure does not drop immediately,
replace fuel vapor valve assembly. Perform evaporative emissions system leak test. See
EVAPORATIVE EMISSIONS SYSTEM LEAK TEST . If system passes, perform DRIVE CYCLES
in SELF-DIAGNOSTICS - CNG, FLEX-FUEL & GASOLINE article. Ensure PENDING CODE

F150 Pickup

1. Testing EVAP Canister & Canister Vent Solenoid Flow - Connect Evaporative Emissions System

Leak Tester (134-00056) to fuel filler pipe. Pressurize system to 14 in. H2O (3.48 kPa). If pressure drops
immediately, EVAP system is not blocked, go to step 5 . If pressure does not drop immediately, go to
next step.

2. Testing Canister Vent Hose Assembly For Blockage


Disconnect canister vent hose assembly from EVAP canister. EVAP canister is under rear of vehicle near
left frame rail. Pressurize system to 14 in. H2O (3.48 kPa). If pressure does not drop immediately, go to
next step. If pressure drops immediately, replace canister vent solenoid hose assembly. Perform
evaporative emissions system leak test. See EVAPORATIVE EMISSIONS SYSTEM LEAK TEST .
If system passes, perform DRIVE CYCLES in SELF-DIAGNOSTICS - CNG, FLEX-FUEL &
GASOLINE article. Ensure PENDING CODE CHECK & EVAP MONITOR "BYPASS" CHECK is
performed.

3. Testing Canister Vent Solenoid For Blockage


Remove canister vent solenoid. Canister vent solenoid is located next to EVAP canister. Pressurize
system to 14 in. H2O (3.48 kPa). If pressure does not drop immediately, go to next step. If pressure drops
immediately, replace canister vent solenoid. Perform evaporative emissions system leak test. See
EVAPORATIVE EMISSIONS SYSTEM LEAK TEST . If system passes, perform DRIVE CYCLES
in SELF-DIAGNOSTICS - CNG, FLEX-FUEL & GASOLINE article. Ensure PENDING CODE
CHECK & EVAP MONITOR "BYPASS" CHECK is performed.

4. Testing EVAP Canister For Blockage


Disconnect EVAP purge outlet tube from EVAP canister. Pressurize system to 14 in. H2O (3.48 kPa). If
pressure does not drop immediately, replace the EVAP purge outlet tube between the EVAP test port and
EVAP canister. Repeat step 1 to verify the repair. Then go to next step. If pressure drops immediately,
replace EVAP canister. Reconnect all components. Repeat step 1 to verify the repair. Then go to next
step.

5. Testing EVAP Fuel Vapor Vent Valve(s) Or Assembly


Disconnect battery ground terminal. Connect leak tester to fuel filler pipe. Pressurize system to 14 in.
H2O (3.48 kPa). If pressure drops immediately, reconnect all disconnect components. Perform
evaporative emissions system leak test. See EVAPORATIVE EMISSIONS SYSTEM LEAK TEST .
If pressure does not drop immediately, replace fuel vapor vent valve(s) or EVAP canister assembly. After
repairs, perform evaporative emissions system leak test. See EVAPORATIVE EMISSIONS SYSTEM
LEAK TEST
. If system passes, perform DRIVE CYCLES in SELF-DIAGNOSTICS - CNG, FLEX-
FUEL & GASOLINE article. Ensure PENDING CODE CHECK & EVAP MONITOR "BYPASS"
CHECK is performed.

1. Testing Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor - Connect Evaporative Emissions System Leak Tester (134-00056)

to fuel filler pipe. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, close canister vent solenoid. Select OUTPUT TEST
MODE, FTP and FTP V PID. Select ALL OFF mode. Press START button on scan tool to close canister
vent solenoid. Pressurize system to 14 in. H2O (3.48 kPa). If FTP V PID is not 4.22-4.90 volts, go to step
3 . If FTP V PID is 4.22-4.90 volts, go to next step.

2. Testing Venting Portion Of EVAP System For Blockage


Using scan tool, open canister vent solenoid. If pressure drops immediately, perform evaporative
emissions system leak test. See EVAPORATIVE EMISSIONS SYSTEM LEAK TEST . If system
passes, perform DRIVE CYCLES in SELF-DIAGNOSTICS - CNG, FLEX-FUEL & GASOLINE
article. Ensure PENDING CODE CHECK & EVAP MONITOR "BYPASS" CHECK is performed. If
pressure does not drop immediately, go to step 5 .

3. Testing For Fuel Filler Pipe Blockage


Pressurize system to 14 in. H2O (3.48 kPa). If pressure drops immediately, go to next step. If pressure
does not drop immediately, replace fuel filler pipe. Perform evaporative emissions system leak test. See
EVAPORATIVE EMISSIONS SYSTEM LEAK TEST . If system passes, perform DRIVE CYCLES
in SELF-DIAGNOSTICS - CNG, FLEX-FUEL & GASOLINE article. Ensure PENDING CODE
CHECK & EVAP MONITOR "BYPASS" CHECK is performed.

4. Testing Fuel Vapor Control Valve Tube For Pinch Or Blockage


Reconnect fuel filler pipe to fuel tank. Lower fuel tank about 3/4" (19 mm). Connect EVAP tester to fuel
filler pipe. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, close canister vent solenoid. Select OUTPUT TEST MODE,
FTP and FTP V PID. Select ALL OFF mode. Press START button on scan tool to close canister vent
solenoid. Pressurize system to 14 in. H2O (3.48 kPa). If FTP V PID is 4.22-4.90 volts, go to step 2 . If
FTP V PID is not 4.22-4.90 volts, fuel vapor control valve tube or fuel tank vapor control valve is
blocked. Remove the fuel tank assembly. Remove the fuel vapor control tube from the tank and inspect it
for any blockages or kinks. If the fuel vapor control tube is faulty, install a new one. If the vapor control
tube is not restricted, install a new fuel tank assembly. Perform evaporative emissions system leak test.
See EVAPORATIVE EMISSIONS SYSTEM LEAK TEST . If system passes, perform DRIVE
CYCLES
in SELF-DIAGNOSTICS - CNG, FLEX-FUEL & GASOLINE article. Ensure PENDING
CODE CHECK & EVAP MONITOR "BYPASS" CHECK is performed.

5. Isolate Location Of Blockage


Disconnect fuel vapor control valve tube from EVAP canister purge outlet tube. Pressurize system to 14
in. H2O (3.48 kPa). If pressure drops immediately, go to next step. If pressure does not drop immediately,
fuel vapor control valve tube or fuel tank vapor control valve is blocked. Remove the fuel tank assembly.
Remove the vapor control tube from the tank and inspect it for any blockage or kinks. If the fuel vapor
control tube is faulty, install a new one. If the fuel vapor control tube is not restricted, install a new fuel
tank assembly. Perform evaporative emissions system leak test. See EVAPORATIVE EMISSIONS
SYSTEM LEAK TEST
. If system passes, perform DRIVE CYCLES in SELF-DIAGNOSTICS -
CNG, FLEX-FUEL & GASOLINE article. Ensure PENDING CODE CHECK & EVAP MONITOR
"BYPASS" CHECK is performed.
